Sr Technical Trainer – Austin, TX
Key Responsibilities
Content Development
Develop advanced curricula on:
Mechanical assemblies, electro‑mechanical systems, and system‑level troubleshooting.
Electrical schematics, assembly prints, and blueprint interpretation.
Wire harnessing, routing, soldering, crimping, and inspection standards.
Test procedures including helium leak testing, module/sub‑assembly testing, and inspection principles (when applicable).
Build high‑impact digital content (microlearning, animations, simulations, step‑by‑step video modules).
Translate complex technical documentation (prints, work instructions, Operational Method Sheets (OMS), engineering changes) into advanced training materials.
Expert‑Level Training Delivery
Deliver advanced multi‑site training on electro‑mechanical systems, troubleshooting, and diagnostic methods.
Facilitate expert‑level training both in‑person and online using advanced instructional techniques.
Mentor Technical Trainers in instructional design, facilitation, and assessment methodology.
Training Architecture & Strategy
Lead the design and refinement of the Global Technician Certification Program for Technician roles.
Develop multi‑level competency models, assessments, and progression paths.
Benchmark program effectiveness using operational metrics, quality data, and skill gap analysis.
Leverage the Learning Management System (LMS) to strategically assign, track, and oversee all training activities.
Operational & Technical Leadership
Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and NPI teams to validate technical requirements and ensure training readiness for new products.
Support complex root cause analysis, engineering changes, and continuous improvement initiatives; design corrective/preventative training tied to systemic gaps.
Introduce best practices for 6S, visual controls, and process discipline in training contexts.
Support capability development across the Services organization as well as warehouse, manufacturing, quality, and materials teams, ensuring all roles have the skills and knowledge needed to support operational excellence.
Digital Learning & AI Integration
Build multi‑format digital learning (interactive modules, branching scenarios, video‑based instruction).
Use agentic AI tools to accelerate content creation, enhance knowledge systems, and automate workflow documentation.
Train others—including leads and trainers—on responsible use of AI and digital platforms.
Culture, Communication & Leadership Development Support
Enhance onboarding programs to accelerate time‑to‑competency and instill UCT values.
Model and reinforce UCT’s High Performance Team culture across multiple sites.
Guide supervisors, team leads, and technical trainers in learning approaches that foster employee growth and strengthen team effectiveness.
Required Qualifications
5+ years in technical training and experience in advanced manufacturing or electro‑mechanical technical roles.
Expert‑level ability to interpret engineering drawings, electrical schematics, assembly prints, OMS, and product specifications.
Proven experience designing complex, multi‑module training programs.
Expert facilitator for classroom and online delivery.
Strong project management and cross‑functional leadership skills.
Proficiency with Learning Management System (LMS) platforms and advanced instructional design tools.
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of a technical certification or associate program in manufacturing technology, welding, semiconductor processing, or equivalent discipline.
Experience leading global or multi‑site training initiatives.
Strong proficiency in OMS/MES/ERP (SAP Agile) and engineering visualization tools.
Advanced experience using agentic AI for content development, automation, and program scaling.
Lean Six Sigma certification (Yellow/Green/Black Belt).
Semiconductor or high‑tech manufacturing experience.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Frequent standing/sitting in manufacturing or cleanroom environments.
Exposure to electrical currents, chemicals, mechanical parts, debris, and noise.
PPE required where applicable.
