Boehringer Ingelheim is looking for a Salesforce.com Architect to join our team with Health Cloud / Life Sciences Cloud expertise. The Associate Director, Salesforce Architect, will be the principal architect for our patient services CRM capabilities—shaping the target architecture, guiding the transition from Health Cloud to Life Sciences Cloud, and ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, compliant, and value‑driven. You’ll shape architecture enabling patients to start and stay on therapy with less friction across therapies and engagement models. Compensation Data This position offers a base salary typically between $140,000 to 222,000. Architecture leadership: Own the multi‑year architecture roadmap for Patient CRM—Health Cloud to Life Sciences Cloud—including domain, data, integration, security, and runtime architecture on Hyperforce; define reference patterns for Experience Cloud portals, Shield, and eventing Product & design authority: Translate patient‑journey outcomes into composable capabilities and epics; conduct option analyses (configure vs. custom vs. ISV) and chair architecture/design reviews across vendors and internal squads Integration & data: Establish canonical models and APIs with Integration Layer/MDM and hub partners (e.g., Pharmacord/McKesson), eRx/eBV/PA, and omnichannel services; ensure data lineage, identity resolution, and consent enforcement across patient touchpoints Security, privacy & compliance: Embed platform security (Shield, encryption, BYOK), SSO/JIT, auditability, and retention; align with patient privacy, AE/PC reporting flows, and validation needs Delivery excellence: Guide multi‑partner delivery (SI/ISV) using pragmatic guardrails, branching/versioning, DevSecOps, automated testing, telemetry/observability, and SLAs for run; reduce tech debt and drive “build once, scale many”. Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, security, performance, and adherence to architectural standards Stakeholder engagement: Partner with Salesforce COE, IT Cross Functional Teams, Patient Excellence, Field Operations (PaCE/RAAD), and Compliance to prioritize value, shape release scope, and communicate trade‑offs and decisions to leadership Thought leadership: Collaborate closely with Global Salesforce COE team and track Salesforce roadmap (LSC, Agentforce, Data Cloud, Einstein), evaluate fit for patient‑services scenarios (DTC models, concierge/agent desktops), and pilot responsibly Requirements
Bachelors’ and/or Masters’ degree (or equivalent); progressive IT and business experience of five (5) to ten (10) years is preferred 10–12 years in enterprise application architecture preferred with 6+ years architecting on Salesforce 3+ years hands on with Health Cloud in a regulated (life sciences/healthcare) context Demonstrated end‑to‑end solutioning across case management, benefits/access (eBV/PA), eRx, provider/patient portals, care coordination, and consent/privacy Expertise with Integration patterns (Platform Events, Async APIs, REST/SOAP, Mulesoft/Axway), MDM/identity, and governed data sharing Strong command of platform security (Salesforce Shield, encryption, field‑level/record‑level security), SSO (SAML/OAuth), and compliant logging/audit. Proven experience guiding multivendor delivery (SIs/ISVs) with architecture guardrails, ADRs, and quality gates Desired Skills, Experience And Abilities
Salesforce certifications Experience with portals, MDM, integrations Familiarity with adjacent stack components (e.g., Veeva Align/Vault, Qualtrics, Adobe Target, enterprise MDM) in pharma patient‑services ecosystems Knowledge of commercial pharma data providers e.g. IQVIA, Symphony, Komodo and specialty pharmacies Understands HCP and HCO data including mastering, affiliations, and alignments Eligibility Requirements Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction; must be willing to take a drug test and post‑offer physical (if required); must be 18 years of age or older.
