Overview
The BSA Investigations Analyst I is responsible for the research and investigation of customer and transactional data, as well as reporting to applicable governmental agencies and law enforcement. Investigations involve the collection, analysis, and evaluation of information from various sources, the documentation of research findings, and the completion of reports as required by bank regulations. Responsibilities
Performs daily review and analysis of various reports, referrals, and escalations to effectively determine if money laundering, cyber-crime, identity theft, terrorist financing, human trafficking, fraud, or other types of suspicious activity are occurring. Conducts research utilizing various public and non-public sources and makes final decisions based on research findings. Identifies the information needed to clarify situations and make appropriate requests from third-party service providers and/or 314(b) participating institutions. Maintains a high level of sensitivity and confidentiality when compiling investigative information, and in interacting with internal and external resources. Collaborates with other team members to identify trends and make final determinations, share knowledge, and ensure consistency in investigative processes. Creates and maintains case files for all investigated activity to fulfill recordkeeping requirements. Writes qualitative summaries of each investigation. Recommends account closure, customer termination, and/or Suspicious Activity Report (SAR) filing as warranted, and ensures necessary actions are completed by all responsible parties. Prepares and files Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) and Currency Transaction Reports (CTRs) within required timeframes. Takes appropriate action on all internal and external notifications and requests. Assists and provides support to others in the department during high volume monitoring periods or absences. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent, required. Strong analytical and conceptual thinking skills, with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions using data. Ability to organize thoughts and express ideas clearly. Thorough and detail-oriented. Seniority level
