Description All BB Camp staff are respectful, inclusive individuals who are dedicated to creating a safe environment for growth among campers. Those who are chosen to be part of the summer staff team are committing to positively communicating with their co‑workers and identifying when they need additional support. All staff members are expected to treat every person on camp in a manner that reflects respect for individuals. They are expected to act in ways that show inclusivity toward all in a group. They must prioritize both the emotional and physical safety of all campers and staff with whom they work.

The Assistant Director of Lincoln City Day Camp oversees the Lincoln City DayCamp program, consisting of up to 50 Day Campers and up to 6 Day CampCounselors. This position is responsible for the well‑being of all Day Campers, Day Camp Staff, and any Staff in Training when with Day Camp, parent communication/outreach, organizing and executing Day Camp programming, trips, and logistics, including the setup and breakdown of all scheduled programming areas.

Compensation $4,000-4,5000

Requirements Specific Requirements:

Ability and experience in supervising staff and campers.

At least 21 years of age.

Ability to train and support staff in their responsibilities.

Ability to assist as a resource with challenging campers and dynamics.

Ability to solve problems when issues arise and communicate with appropriate people.

Specific Responsibilities:

Train staff on their responsibilities during staff training and throughout the summer.

Supervise individual camper development and well‑being.

Organize and execute the daily schedule, assign staff to groups, activities, and time off.

Work with the Day Camp staff team to ensure every day feels fun and engaging.

Work with the Staff in Training (SIT) Coordinator to assist in supervision and mentorship of SIT participants when they are assigned to shifts with Day Camp.

Ensure campers and staff are on time for meals and activities.

Administrative work that includes communication to parents before the start of the camp week, any issues that arise, attendance, etc.

Communicate with parents at drop off/pick up.

Review camper health forms before the start of each camp week.

Manage Day Camp space, ensuring it is set up and cleaned daily.

Use evening time to check in with staff and prepare for the following day of camp.

Conduct daily check‑ins with counselors and be familiar with every camper.

Visit groups regularly during the day as a supervisory tool, as well as to provide opportunities to get to know campers and staff.

Be knowledgeable about the eating habits and diets of campers.

Monitor counselor and camper assignments for the day.

Correctly address situations with staff as soon as possible (in private), for actions that put the health and safety of a camper at risk.

Assist counselors in identifying and solving camper issues, and communicate all issues to the supervisor.

Inform supervisor of any camper or staff issues, receive feedback about the action plan that has been created, and provide consistent updates.

Coordinate day trips and logistics.

Be knowledgeable about the medical needs of campers in the unit.

Conduct staff evaluations for each session, making sure to include feedback from the Unit Head of the unit that the specialist is in for that session.

In the event a Day Camp Staff member is ill, or employment is terminated, lead the group and/or activity.

Is a role model to other staff members and enforces everyday policies (cell phones, curfew, time off, etc.).

All-Staff Essential Functions:

Be able to lift and carry 50lbs for 50 yards over hiking trails.

Hold a current First Aid and CPR Certification by the beginning of camp.

Be able to make appropriate judgments and decisions concerning children.

Have a desire and ability to work with children and adults in a camp setting.

Be able to identify problems that need to be solved when they arise.

Be able to perform job responsibilities during daylight and nighttime hours.

Maintain appropriate boundaries with campers and other staff.

Prioritize the campers at camp while using respect, inclusion, and safety as guiding principles throughout all of their assigned duties.

General responsibilities for all staff

Attend and participate in pre-camp staff training. Dates may vary depending on position.

Be familiar with and abide by the personnel policies, safety rules, and programs of the camp.

Become familiar with BB Camp’s 7 core values and be able to uplift and uphold Judaic programming.

Maintain personal and ethical integrity by following through on responsibilities and by accepting and abiding by decisions regarding program and camp policy.

Observe responsible health habits, including sufficient sleep, reasonable eating habits, and cooperation with the Camp Wellness Staff and Camp Director in the event of illness or injury.

Clean and appropriate clothing and grooming are insisted upon at all times.

Participate in and be punctual for all camp meetings, meals, activities, and special programs.

Keep records and submit paperwork as required.

Help prepare for camp opening and closing.

Work with all staff cohesively and solve any discrepancies that arise.

Prioritize the campers. All staff should be able to identify when issues might arise and work with others to help mitigate all situations.

Inform the Camp Director or the Security Officer on duty if any abnormal activity is observed regarding the safety and security of the camp.

Show flexibility and take on additional duties when necessary. Some duties may be reassigned, and other duties may be assigned as required.
