Overview Category: Fundraising & Donor Relations Job Summary Plans, develops, implements, administers and monitors fundraising programs for Central Oklahoma Area Command. Develops and secures funds to achieve/surpass fundraising goals through a variety of financial development vehicles including: (1) individual major gifts and individual donor upgrading, in collaboration with the Divisional Resource Development staff supporting the Area Command; (2) corporate gifts and sponsorships; (3) foundation support for specific programs and projects; (4) capital campaigns; (5) special events; (6) United Way Funding; and (7) City, County, State, and Federal Government grants.

Manage Development Department (95%) Implements, administers, and sustains a development plan for The Salvation Army’s Central Oklahoma Area Command; develops, plans, and conducts appropriate fundraising activities in support of Central Oklahoma Area Command’s budget and programs.

Collaborates with Divisional Resource Development (major gift) staff for the cultivation of major gifts and prospects. Collaborates with the Divisional Resource Development fundraiser(s) assigned to Central Oklahoma to determine portfolio of donors/prospects to be managed by the Area Command Development Director. For this determined portfolio of donors, solicits donations and cultivates relationships with donors in order to develop, secure, and maintain new income sources for present and long-term financial support; ensures that all requests from donors and potential donors for information and clarification are responded to in an accurate, timely and professional manner, evaluates day-to-day fundraising efforts to ensure that fundraising goals are met and/or exceeded.

Performs both short and long-term program planning and develops recommendations for enhancing financial development effectiveness; develops financial development goals for each program or activity and monitors progress to ensure goals are attained; establishes methods and measures for monitoring and evaluating fundraising goals and objectives; works with Director of Operations to prepare an annual financial development program budget.

In collaboration with the Divisional Resource Development staff, plans, develops, and initiates a fundraising strategy to develop corporate gifts and sponsorships as well as foundation/grant support for special programs and projects, researches financial status and philosophy of community organizations to identify potential prospects for major gifts; contacts corporations to identify corporate representatives responsible for donor solicitation; cultivates and maintains an effective working relationship with corporate representatives.

Maintains up-to-date awareness of the latest fundraising strategies and incorporates them into the Central Oklahoma Area Command fundraising plans and strategies.

In coordination with Area Commander and Divisional Resourced Development staff, plans, develops, coordinates and monitors all details associated with the production of fundraising special events and campaigns; identifies the necessary resources, equipment, staff and volunteers; plans event schedules and fundraising goals.

Works with the Community Relations and Development Committee of the Advisory Board to engage the Advisory Board to both support and help execute strategic elements of the Command’s development plan/strategy.

Works with Coordinator of Women’s Ministries and Volunteer Coordinator to plan, develop, and coordinate Annual Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast.

Develops and implements a year-round Salvation Army Awareness and Advocacy Campaign, including developing presentations, initiating contact with civic groups, companies, schools and churches to schedule presentations, and public speaking.

Works with Director of Operations and Area Commander, Advisory Board, councils and committees to develop local promotional plans; conducts presentations when needed.

Works with the Women’s Auxiliary in planning and coordinating fundraising activities.

Assists with Christmas-related fundraising activities.

Coordinates donor relations activities, including correspondence (thank you letters, memorial acknowledgements, special events), responds to donor inquiries, maintains updates to donor database through present mail appeal vendor, and secures a variety of requested information and special reports.

Works with Command Public Relations Director and/or Divisional Communications Director to keep Area Command website up to date.

Works with Director of Social Services to process applications for United Way Funding as well as any governmental grants. Will work towards eventually assuming these duties and have sole responsibility for them.

Other Responsibilities (5%) Maintains an effective working relationship with the AOK Divisional Development Department.

Performs other related work as required.

Qualifications Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, with specialized training in fundraising management And Four to six years’ experience of progressively responsible experience in fundraising and fundraising management.

OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

Certifications/Licenses

Valid State Driver’s License

National Society of Fundraising Executives (NSFRE) certification as a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) preferable
