This role serves as the senior authority for hybrid infrastructure engineering, responsible for reliability, scale, cost discipline, and service maturity across on‑prem and cloud platforms through standardized architectures, automation, and operational rigor. The Director leads cross‑functional engineering teams spanning data center platforms, cloud services, and observability, with accountability for closing ownership gaps, rebuilding leadership bench depth, and delivering infrastructure capabilities that combine cloud agility with on‑prem reliability, latency, and scale requirements.
Responsibilities
Drive data center consolidation and modernization while scaling cloud platforms in support of Micron's strategic initiatives
Lead service engineering and platformization efforts, including private cloud, shared infrastructure services, and standardized operating models
Own infrastructure reliability, resilience, and capacity engineering across hybrid environments supporting always‑on manufacturing operations
Establish infrastructure cost management and transparency through FinOps practices, resource management, and consumption accountability
Build and operate a unified observability strategy providing end‑to‑end awareness of service health, performance, and risk
Accelerate automation and self‑service enablement to reduce manual operations and improve speed, quality, and consistency of delivery
Develop leadership bench strength and a sustainable succession pipeline within infrastructure engineering domains
Scope and Impact – Unified ownership of data center engineering, cloud engineering/operations, and observability. Accountability for hybrid infrastructure platforms supporting global manufacturing, enterprise, and AI workloads. Leadership of a geographically distributed organization. Direct impact on infrastructure reliability, manufacturing uptime, cost optimization, and engineering velocity
Key Outcomes – Clear end‑to‑end ownership of hybrid infrastructure with reduced decision latency and execution gaps. Modernized data center and cloud platforms aligned to future AI and manufacturing scale requirements. Improved service reliability, faster incident resolution, and stronger operational predictability. Stronger leadership bench with clear growth paths for managers and senior engineers.
Minimum Qualifications
10+ years of experience in enterprise infrastructure engineering, data center operations, or cloud platforms
5+ years leading large, multi‑disciplinary engineering or operations organizations
Strong background in on‑prem infrastructure (compute, storage, networking, platforms) and public cloud environments
Demonstrated ownership of high‑availability, mission‑critical services in 24x7 environments
Experience driving infrastructure modernization, consolidation, or large‑scale transformation initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting AI, HPC, or high‑density compute environments
