Overview

The Accounting Director reports directly to the State Secretary of the FSEA and serves as a member of the senior management team. He/she participates with the board of directors and other management staff in charting the direction of the organization, assuring its accountability to all constituencies, and ensuring its effective operation. Role : The primary role of the Accounting Director is to oversee the day-to-day accounting tasks and activities for the FSEA and its five affiliate, non-profit corporations. The Accounting Director position is full-time, with office space at the FSEA offices on the Florida Elks Youth Camp campus, approximately 7.5 miles west of Umatilla, FL. Organization

The Florida State Elks Association

is an association of the 89 Elks Lodges in Florida formed to aid in protecting the interests of the Order of Elks, exchange beneficial ideas, and operate major charitable projects. It coordinates activities of member Lodges, conducts quarterly board and membership meetings, and oversees its affiliate, non-profit corporations. Scope : The Florida State Elks Association, Inc. is the controlling 501(c)(8) entity of a group of subsidiary 501(c)(3) non-profit corporations, including Florida Elks Children’s Therapy Services, Inc. (FECTS). Essential Functions

Provide leadership in the Finance department through supervision and backup coverage for accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll. Oversee and maintain financial records for the FSEA and its subsidiary companies. Prepare and draft monthly journal entries. File sales and use tax as required monthly. Complete bank reconciliations for all companies. Assist in annual budget preparation for all companies. Assist with and provide information for the annual audit. Report on the financial status of each entity at the quarterly board meetings. Attend and report at HAIF investment seminars in April and October. Prepare monthly giving reports for the HAIF, Florida Ladies of Elks and Sustaining Donors. Complete special projects and initiatives, as needed, and other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, & Experience

Minimum 5+ years of experience with non-profit accounting. Experience in public accounting and/or auditing is a plus. Experience with various software platforms including Charity Engine and Blackbaud. Education/Certification

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA license is a plus. Other
