The Role Under general direction of the Program Director, the Assistant Program Director will provide administrative and clinical supervision to multidisciplinary staff assigned to case management, housing, and community benefits teams. The incumbent is responsible for managing day‑to‑day operations, monitoring service delivery, ensuring quality and appropriateness of program services, coordinating appropriate service coverage, providing on‑call administration, and managing facility or clinical emergencies. This work supports the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village.

Responsibilities

Supervise and monitor Shelter environment to ensure that behavioral guidelines are followed, a therapeutic milieu is maintained, and interpersonal relationships remain positive.

Coordinate and implement clinical services for a multidisciplinary case management team.

Implement and monitor policies, procedures, and systems necessary for effective and efficient delivery of program services.

Provide regularly scheduled clinical and administrative supervision to assigned staff.

Document supervisory sessions, complete appraisals, and administer discipline as required.

Make recommendations on hiring and terminating staff.

Identify training needs and plan, develop, or conduct training to maintain and improve clinical staff competence and compliance with agency policy.

Ensure maintenance of accurate, complete, and timely client treatment records by staff that complies with regulatory requirements and agency policy.

Qualifications

Associate's degree with 15+ years of progressive experience working with the homeless population and 10+ years supervising social service/human services staff in shelter/transitional or permanent supportive housing, with experience working with the NYC Department of Homeless Services (DHS) or similar city‑operated organization.

Strong leadership and effective management skills.

Ability to implement and monitor policy and procedure in accordance with agency guidelines.

Knowledgeable about federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing substance abuse treatment programs.

Good analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
