Job Overview Outside Sales Representatives
are important members of the Star Nursery team. They provide outstanding customer services and sales assistance to customers. They answer customers’ questions, recommend products/materials & provide a safe working/shopping environment. The work is in the patio and plant display area outside the store building.
Responsibilities
Providing quality customer service. Answering customers questions. recommending products and material to our customer to achieve their project needs.
Follows operations standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time service.
Follows policies in the areas of operations techniques, materials usage.
Product knowledge.
Labeling and Signage.
Store upkeep.
Receiving & Stocking Merchandise.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills
Planning: an ability to think ahead and plan in short/ long term ranges.
The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
Problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
Strong ability to interact in a positive manner with varying types of customers, both retail and commercial.
Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
Strong team player.
Commitment to company values.
Extensive knowledge of plant material and garden center merchandise and operations.
Ability to follow directions as well as work independently to achieve goals and complete assigned tasks.
Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather.
Forklift experience (will train and in- house Certify for 18+ years of age).
Qualifications
Effective and relevant work experience in lawn and garden center industry or equivalent.
Honest and hard working.
Must be able to work long hours (seasonal overtime available) in all types of weather conditions.
Must be able to lift & move plant material.
Must be able to pass a drug test (safety sensitive position).
Authorization to work in the United States.
Physical Aspects of the Job
Frequently bending, twisting and rotating trunk, arms and legs.
Standing 100% of the time/walking 99% of the time/climbing 10% of the time.
Working with arms extended and bent constantly.
Frequently moving parts and stock weighing up to 35 pounds, 10 to 50 feet.
Occasionally moving parts and stock weighing up to 50 pounds; pushing and pulling occasionally.
Frequently moving merchandise weighing 10 to 25 pounds from floor to counter.
Occasionally moving and stocking overhead shelves with parts weighing 5 to 15 pounds.
Constant gross hand and finger dexterity; frequently grasping and manipulating.
