Position Summary The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS) Hub provides career‑related and professional‑development programming mainly for students pursuing degrees in CLASS disciplines. The director is responsible for developing, implementing, and administering all programming, directing day‑to‑day operations, planning events, and fostering campus partnerships. The director also provides individualized career‑pathway advising and teaches one course per semester in a CLASS department.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in a related field.
Three years of experience in higher education.
One year of experience directing career services, student‑success programming, or a student‑services center in an academic college.
Experience developing employer relationships to establish internship, recruitment, and hiring opportunities.
Experience helping students understand how CLASS disciplines translate to career pathways.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
Ability to build productive partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, alumni, employers, and community members.
Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and student‑success or CRM platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
Ph.D. in a related field.
Experience with event planning in a higher education setting.
Experience managing affiliation agreements.
Experience with grant writing in a higher education setting.
Experience teaching undergraduate students in a CLASS discipline.
Duties & Responsibilities
Design, implement, and direct overall CLASS Hub strategy and messaging (website, media, social media).
Co‑design and implement CLASS Hub career‑pathway advising materials with the CLASS coordinator.
Create and maintain CLASS Hub programming in partnership with university and community stakeholders.
Produce and promote department‑specific and program‑specific professional‑development programming.
Direct planning and coordination of alumni and employer engagement events.
Supervise CLASS Hub staff to ensure consistent office coverage and welcoming atmosphere.
Provide support to campus registered student organizations that utilize the CLASS Hub space.
Oversee record‑keeping and inventory of internship affiliation agreements.
Coordinate CLASS representation at relevant university, college, department, and program events.
Provide individual career‑pathway advising to CLASS students.
Assist in retaining external funding and creating internship opportunities through partnership with CMU Advancement.
Teach one or two courses per academic year in a CLASS department or program.
Pay Range $70,000 – $85,000 per year
