The New York State Gaming Commission is seeking racing investigators for the New York Racing Commission and Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack.

Following are the job descriptions and contact information for the two positions:

Position 1 – Office of the Gaming Commission Employment Type:

Full-Time

Jurisdictional Class:

Work Unit:

Division of Horse Racing and Pari-Mutuel Wagering

Salary:

$66,951 – $85,138

Additional Compensation:

Appointees who work in the five boroughs of New York City or in Nassau, Suffolk, Rockland, or Westchester, Counties will receive an additional $4,000 annual downstate adjustment

Bargaining Unit:

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM with additional hours including weekends and holidays.

Travel:

Up to 50% travel may be required.

Duties

Conduct investigations and interviews of alleged violations related to racing, including equine incidents, and related matters concerning police activities and law enforcement at the racetracks.

Compile and submit reports to the Gaming Commission regarding these activities.

Conduct surveillance at the racetracks to determine and assist in relieving problems of administrative control and security including identification and exclusion of unlicensed individuals and other persons engaged in possible unlawful activities.

Give testimony as required at hearings concerning suspensions, revocations, and other proceedings regarding evidence resulting from investigations.

Other responsibilities as assigned, which may include travel to assist in other investigations, assisting with drug testing for licensees, and assisting with the Bureau of Licensing.

Preferred Qualifications Six years of criminal investigative experience involving fraud, corruption, organized crime, gambling, or other related experience, of which six months must be in the horse racing industry. Equal years of experience in the horse racing industry may substitute for equal years of criminal investigative experience.
