About the Role
Juvenile Justice Advocates International (JJAI) is seeking a highly outgoing, organized, and self-directed Donor Engagement & Growth Associate to help build and strengthen our community of supporters. This is a people-first role. You will be reaching out to donors, following up consistently, and helping turn interest into long-term support. If you enjoy talking to people, building relationships, and taking initiative, this role is for you. This position is part-time and ideal for someone early in their career who wants to grow in nonprofit fundraising, outreach, or community engagement. We are especially interested in candidates with experience in community-based organizations or university groups focused on outreach, community engagement, or Latino/Latinx communities (e.g., COPAL, CLUES, Mi Gente, Latino Student Union, or similar). What Success Looks Like
Donors feel personally connected and engaged with JJAI Outreach and follow-up are consistent and well-organized Past supporters are successfully re-engaged New relationships and opportunities are identified and developed Responsibilities
Reach out to donors and supporters via phone, email, and in-person meetings Follow up consistently and build authentic relationships Help re-engage past donors and strengthen current supporter relationships Track outreach, conversations, and next steps using simple systems (CRM or spreadsheets) Support donor communications and stewardship efforts Help plan and support small events and gatherings Identify potential donors, connectors, and partnership opportunities Represent JJAI in community-facing settings with warmth and professionalism Qualifications
Required: Strong communication and interpersonal skills Comfortable initiating conversations and building relationships Highly organized with strong follow-through Self-starter who takes initiative without needing constant direction Ability to manage multiple conversations and tasks at once Interest in nonprofit, advocacy, or mission-driven work Strong Plus: Spanish-speaking ability Experience engaging across cultures and communities Background in outreach, organizing, events, sales, hospitality, or community engagement Experience with donor tracking tools, CRMs, Airtable, or spreadsheets Familiarity with the Twin Cities community What We Value Most
