Overview
The Dining Services Server is accountable for providing prompt, courteous service to all residents and guests in the dining room during meal times. The Server performs serving, cleaning, hospitality, and waiting/bussing tables. The Server also serves the Dining Room, meetings, and other special events requiring dining services, and may prepare salads and desserts as directed. Essential Responsibilities
Assist in food preparation, hospitality duties, and meal service, including serving food, waiting tables, and bussing tables. Serve breakfast, lunch and dinner meals to residents, guests, and staff in the Dining Room or Bistro, and bus and reset tables as needed. Prepare salad bar items for lunch; fill salad bar with ice and set for service, gather plates and bowls as necessary for salad bar and soup kettles; prepare and stage desserts; light food prep for special events; assist in setting up meetings or other special events, including delivery of snacks, coffee, tea, etc. Follow all sanitation guidelines, federal/state regulations, and Senior Living/Healthcare requirements; maintain cleanliness of prep items. Follow cleaning schedules and perform cleaning duties as scheduled and/or needed. “Open” and “Close” dining rooms as needed. Education and Work Experience
Required Degree: High school diploma Certificates
Current Food Handler’s Permit is required. Training in ServSafe is beneficial. Knowledge, Skills and Ability
Effective communication with residents and staff (verbal and written English). Ability to read and understand written instructions and follow safety practices. Cordial and congenial with residents. Dependable, detail oriented, organized, and have good follow‑through. Work within standard policy and procedures with limited direct supervision. Handle a variety of tasks and functions. React calmly in emergency situations. Show patience and compassion to senior adults. Consider residents’ comfort, safety, security, and belongings. Set and establish priorities. Manage time efficiently. Maintain work area neat and orderly. Maintain a well–groomed appearance that complies with organizational and state food code standards; adhere to dress code and kitchen uniform requirements. Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, preparation, and serving principles. Work with all persons and get along socially with employees, residents, families, visitors, vendors, health care professionals, and community members. Physical Requirements
May be required to lift or carry equipment or supplies weighing up to 50 pounds. Frequent stooping, bending, climbing, reaching, pulling/pushing, and long periods walking and/or standing. May be required to stand, sit, twist, bend, squat, kneel or crouch when performing job duties. Must possess adequate sight and hearing to meet the responsibilities of this position. Compensation
$19.50 – $22.50 per hour Benefits
