Job Overview

As a Cosmetic Sales colleague, also known as a Beauty Advisor, your focus is to support the Beauty needs of our customers to drive sales. You are a product educator and beauty enthusiast who specializes in making customers feel beautiful and confident. You build a client base and nurture strong client relationships to meet sales goals. You embrace innovation through new selling ideas and are comfortable communicating with customers virtually and via phone. You provide customer consultations, including applying makeup and products.

What You Will Do

Greet customers in a friendly and helpful manner

Use product knowledge to give expert guidance to each customer based on their wants, features, and choices

Build a relationship with customers by introducing them to beauty products and discovering their needs

Demonstrate and teach the use of beauty products by applying them on the customer

Keep proper display, organization, storage and restocking of inventory

Use our clientele program to connect with customers, achieve sales goals, inform about promotions and product launches, and enroll customers in our rewards program

Join pre-selling and sales-boosting events to increase sales and reach personal sales targets

Stay current with training through Macy’s educational resources, including Vendor trainings and virtual trainings

Merchandise new arrivals, process damages, testers and return merchandise to vendors

Use point of sale technology to sell and fulfill customer orders

Follow hygiene standards and asset protection control and compliance procedures

Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships with colleagues, customers, and communities

Skills You Will Need

Product knowledge:

Understanding of beauty products and ability to guide customers based on wants and features

Communication:

Comfortable communicating with customers virtually, via phone, and in person

Sales:

Ability to build relationships, achieve sales goals, and participate in pre-selling events

Technology:

Use point-of-sale technology to help sell and fulfill orders

Continuous learning:

Self-driven to stay current with Macy’s beauty products and trends and training resources

Makeup application:

Show and teach makeup application on customers

Subject Matter Expertise:

Proficiency with vendor lines and beauty trends

Interpersonal Skills:

Strong interpersonal skills with colleagues across departments

Collaboration:

Work with the Beauty team to drive sales and deliver customer experience

Who You Are

Passionate with a business-minded attitude to succeed in a performance-based setting

Able to resolve customer problems constructively and proactively

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends

Enthusiasm for the beauty industry and the ability to provide outstanding customer care

Flexible and able to use sound judgment in ambiguous situations

Flexible availability including days, evenings, weekends and holidays, with reliable attendance

At least 1 year of customer service or selling experience required

Previous cosmetic or fragrance sales experience is a plus

Essential Physical Requirements

Prolonged periods of standing/walking

Frequent use of computers and handheld devices

Reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping and color vision

Ability to lift and move items weighing up to 25 lbs
