
Sports Officials - Youth Sports
SALINA FAMILY YMCA, Salina, KS, United States
This position is supervised by the Sports Director or Coordinator and is responsible for officiating youth sports games in accordance with YMCA goals and philosophy, providing a high‑quality experience to children and parents that reflects the YMCA core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Responsibilities
Provide exceptional customer service by greeting all participants, maintaining a clean and safe facility, and demonstrating professional conduct at all times.
Explain the rules to children, coaches, and parents.
Be fair and consistent.
Prepare the game field.
Conduct meetings with coaches and captains and lead the sports pledge.
Pick up trash and put equipment away after games.
Display good sportsmanship.
Respond to challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.
Perform all other duties as requested.
Qualifications
Knowledgeable of the sport being officiated.
Must work well with children, parents, and coaches.
Has the ability to work and resolve conflict situations.
Certifications: CPR/FA, within 30 days of hire.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
Must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds, and occasionally move up to seventy‑five (75) pounds in the form of supplies or equipment.
Able to sit, stand and bend to perform appropriate tasks.
Must be able to move at an appropriate pace to respond to emergencies.
Follow all safety requirements of the Salina Family YMCA.
May be required to stand for extended periods of time.
Work in different temperature environments.
