Sales Associate – Rack Room Shoes, Birmingham, AL
As a Sales Associate at Rack Room Shoes, you will adhere to and practice our company’s service standards with each customer, meet sales and work goals set by store management, and lead teammates by example in accuracy and completeness of work. You will present the store, its merchandise, and yourself in the best possible light, control cash, and maintain strict accuracy of all sales transactions.
Duties and Responsibilities
Create an excellent shopping experience for our customers through awareness and company service standards. Positive attitude, willingness to serve, and being well‑informed.
Promote the company rewards program and other business initiatives.
Maintain awareness of all current sales promotions.
Maintain merchandise presentation, ensuring stock is well arranged and merchandised properly, and keep all areas clean and organized.
Develop and maintain necessary product knowledge and fitting skills.
Be aware of loss prevention concerns involving customers and staff members.
Participate in physical inventories, assist in shipping and receiving merchandise, and help place merchandise on the sales floor when needed.
When performing cashier functions, process all sales in accordance with existing policy and procedure. All shoes will be checked for mates.
Process all sales and POS terminal transactions in accordance with policy and procedure.
Principal Working Relationships Customers, Sales Associates, Store Management, and District/Regional Managers.
Key Qualifications
Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with external contacts and with all levels of employees.
Basic verbal and non‑verbal communication, organization, and math skills.
Experience in retail sales, preferably specialty retail or footwear.
Basic knowledge of policies and procedures.
Basic visual merchandising skills and understanding of Store Presentation Standards.
