Overview Are you a driven sales professional who thrives in the field, values autonomy, and wants to be rewarded for performance? Milton CAT is seeking a results-oriented Outside Sales Representative to support our growing Forestry Equipment business across New York state.
As the exclusive Caterpillar dealer in the Northeast, Milton CAT offers you the opportunity to represent industry-leading equipment while building lasting relationships with customers who rely on your expertise to keep their operations running. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role for someone ready to own a territory and grow a book of business.
Starting Compensation Range:
$70,000-$100,000; base plus commission structure based on performance. Outside Sales Representatives typically earn within the stated range for year one, but typically have unlimited earning potential each year.
Responsibilities
Develop and grow a defined sales territory focused on forestry equipment sales and rentals
Actively prospect new customers while strengthening relationships with existing accounts
Visit customer sites, evaluate needs, and recommend equipment solutions that drive real results
Demonstrate equipment capabilities in real-world job site environments
Manage your pipeline, forecasts, and customer interactions using CRM tools
Partner with internal teams to deliver seamless customer experiences
Understand and clearly explain financing and purchasing options
Travel regularly throughout your assigned region to support customers
Qualifications To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required.
Field-based sales experience (B2B, equipment, construction, forestry, or adjacent industries preferred)
Proven ability to prospect, build, and manage a sales territory
Entrepreneurial mindset with strong drive, accountability, and follow-through
Comfortable working independently while collaborating with a supportive team
Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency with CRM systems and basic business software (Word, Excel, etc.)
Ability to operate or learn heavy equipment
Clean driving record and willingness to travel as needed
Flexibility to meet customer schedules, including occasional extended hours
