Responsibilities
With moderate supervision, assist the store management team in executing and supervising all store activities. Provide outstanding guest service within a sales culture that uses GameStop's Circle of Life buy, sell, trade, and reservation model. Ensure products are accessible, boost sales by sharing product and gaming knowledge with guests, maintain a clean and organized shopping environment, and foster guest loyalty and repeat business.
Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions or concerns promptly and courteously, assist guests in meeting their video gaming needs, explain promotions and the trade-in program, recommend additional items, apply selling behaviors, and thank every guest for choosing GameStop. Prioritize guests over tasks and circulate throughout the store.
Support the overall shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, and nurture guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business.
Process guest purchases and returns accurately via the POS system, ensuring top-notch guest service.
Address guest comments or questions in person or on the phone, answer calls promptly and professionally to ensure every guest receives top-notch service.
Promote GameStop’s guest benefits, such as the new title reservations program and the Pro Rewards loyalty program.
Ensure that all areas of the store, including restrooms, are clean, organized, and merchandised according to company guidelines. Ensure all store fixtures and equipment are in proper working order.
Complete Omni-Channel orders daily.
Safeguard company assets through inventory control and loss prevention practices, including scam awareness, safety best practices, and making bank deposits as required.
Conduct store inventory counts, stock/restock merchandise on shelves and fixtures, and move products from the stock room to the selling floor to ensure that all products are represented, organized, and alphabetized.
Support store management in meeting and exceeding sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative and operational duties.
Count, balance, and reconcile daily business transaction totals in the POS system. Ensure closeout paperwork and bank deposit slips are completed correctly. Assist management in ensuring the store has sufficient cash and change for sales transactions. Make daily bank deposits following established guidelines.
Check shipments for discrepancies or shortages, record any discrepancies in the POS system, and report to the Store Manager as needed.
Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls accurately and promptly, ensuring that all boxes are properly labeled and include packing lists.
Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates in the absence of management.
Consistently adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and the Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct.
Follow all opening and closing procedures.
Observe associate performance and provide timely, appropriate feedback to store management.
Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States.
Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
At least 1 year of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred.
Video game knowledge preferred.
Must be able to work alone, stand, and move throughout the store unassisted for up to 10 hours per day.
Required skills and abilities
Exceptional guest service skills.
Provide genuine and friendly assistance to every guest during each visit.
Demonstrate clear verbal and written communication and listening skills in English; bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
Meet associate performance expectations, including attendance, professional dress, and grooming requirements.
Operate the POS computer system and properly complete the required paperwork.
Possess basic math skills and alphabetizing skills.
Self-motivation and ability to work as a team to complete necessary tasks in a timely manner.
Problem-solving skills and judgment abilities.
Follow instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Deliver bank deposits following loss prevention safety guidelines.
Work a flexible schedule, including extended hours/days as necessary, nights, weekends, and some holidays. Minimum of 3 days/week availability.
Remain effective under pressure and handle stress in a manner acceptable to others and the organization.
Bend, stoop, reach with arms/hands, climb ladders, and lift merchandise weighing up to 30 lbs from ground level to a minimum height of 4 feet.
Stand and move throughout the store unassisted to provide guest service or perform tasks in any part of the store for up to 10 hours per day.
