Organization Engage Estero is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, nonpolitical, volunteer civic advocacy organization located in Estero, Southwest Florida. We focus on clear, unbiased, solutions-oriented communication around the issues that shape daily life in Estero—safety, village development, traffic, environment, and health. Role Type & Location Volunteer. Must cover in-person events in Estero / Southwest Florida. Time Commitment Approximately 3–6 hours per week, varying with event schedule. Flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends. Start Date Start ASAP. Role Summary We are looking for a volunteer to attend community events and capture engaging, human-centered social media content—photos, short video clips, and captions—that make Engage Estero feel personal and approachable. The goal is to spark real conversation with the community, highlight local partners and progress, and encourage questions and participation. What You’ll Do Event Coverage (Primary): Attend EE and community partner events to capture high-quality photos and short video clips. Identify people moments that show the community behind the issues, such as volunteers, speakers, residents, and local leaders. Content Creation: Write warm, clear, community-friendly captions that invite comments, questions, and dialogue. Create simple on-brand assets when needed (basic Canva graphics, quote cards, event recap slides). Publishing Support: Provide your photos, videos, and suggested captions to the communications lead for posting. Work within EE's scheduling workflow. Use scheduling software; no need to post in real time unless requested. Community Conversation (Light Engagement): Surface community questions or themes you notice at events, flag any sensitive items to the communications lead for appropriate follow-up. Platforms: Content may be used across EE’s social channels such as Facebook, Instagram, Nextdoor, LinkedIn, depending on the audience and message. Required Skills & Qualifications Comfortable attending events and interacting professionally with community members. Strong writing skills—captions that are clear, accurate, and inviting. Ability to take well-composed photos and short clips with a smartphone. Reliability and responsiveness around event days. Preferred Familiarity with the Estero/Southwest Florida community and local organizations. Basic Canva experience (nice-to-have, not required). Good people instincts and discretion—knowing what’s appropriate to capture and share. Training & Support Onboarding, brand tone guidance, and examples of strong EE posts. Simple photo/caption checklist for events. Clear escalation path for sensitive topics or misinformation. What Success Looks Like EE’s social presence feels more human, local, and personal. Posts consistently prompt meaningful comments, questions, and constructive conversation. Events are captured in a way that highlights community partners, progress, and participation.
