Job Description
The Content and Editorial Specialist is a key contributor on the Marketing and Communications team at the Vanderbilt University Owen Graduate School of Management. This role manages the development and execution of institutional storytelling that highlights student experience, alumni success, faculty expertise, research, partnerships, and societal impact. The Content and Editorial Specialist is responsible for producing high-quality editorial content, managing editorial planning, and ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency across channels. The role is critical in translating institutional priorities into compelling, audience-centered narratives and ensuring content is effectively distributed and repurposed across owned and earned media.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop and execute storytelling focused on students, alumni, faculty, research, partners, and community impact.
Write, edit, and manage multimedia content, including articles, features, profiles, scripts, and captions.
Maintain editorial calendars, deadlines, and content pipelines aligned with institutional priorities.
Repurpose content across owned, earned, and paid channels to maximize reach and conversion.
Ensure editorial clarity, factual accuracy, and alignment with brand voice and messaging frameworks.
Collaborate with creative, marketing, and digital partners to adapt content across formats and platforms.
Support earned media efforts through content development and story packaging.
Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Relationships
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibility. It reports administratively and functionally to the Assistant Director of Brand & Content Strategy.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
Strong writing, editing, and editorial skills are required.
Ability to translate complex ideas into clear, engaging narratives is required.
Demonstrated experience managing content across digital platforms is required.
Experience working with editorial calendars and production timelines is strongly preferred.
Experience in higher education, media, or mission-driven organizations is preferred.
