Leading Educators (LE) is inviting visionary instructional leaders to apply for the role of Director of Implementation, Design, and Coaching—Math , a hybrid leadership position based in New York City. As a Director, you will lead transformational math initiatives across New York City public schools, owning the full lifecycle of implementation from initial launch to measurable academic impact. You will serve as a strategic bridge between Senior Director priorities and the real-world delivery structures within your assigned district portfolio, working shoulder-to-shoulder with educators to ensure every student reaches their full potential. In this role, you will operate at the intersection of instructional leadership, relationship management, and coaching excellence. You will be the primary lead for program implementation, translating strategy into actionable project plans with clear milestones. Beyond high-level oversight, you will act as the lead designer and coach for your portfolio, maintaining accountability for the rigor and coherence of all professional learning and instructional support. This includes leading strategic conversations with district content leads, managing complex multi-school partnerships, and potentially developing Design and coaching specialists to strengthen their capacity. Your expertise will directly influence how thousands of students experience mathematics instruction, moving the needle on equitable acceleration and high‑quality practice.
Key Responsibilities and Impact
Strategic Implementation: You will lead complex, multi‑school implementation efforts aligned to standards, ensuring unwavering fidelity to instructional practice and measurable student outcomes.
Professional Learning Design: You will design and facilitate 3–7 high‑quality, full‑day professional learning sessions annually that deepen content knowledge and build instructional leadership capacity.
High‑Impact Coaching: You will provide consistent coaching to school and district leaders, focusing on lesson internalization, student work analysis, and reflective improvement cycles.
Partnership Management: You will serve as the primary relationship owner within district contexts, managing expectations and sustaining productive partnerships while maintaining high instructional rigor.
Sustainability & Data: You will institutionalize Professional Learning Community (PLC) structures and analyze school/district data to inform goal‑setting and strategy refinement.
AI Integration: You will apply artificial intelligence strategically to improve work efficiency and execution while exercising sound judgment regarding its responsible use in education.
Qualifications and Experience
We are looking for candidates who possess a minimum of eight years of professional experience in education, instructional leadership, or curriculum implementation. Deep 6‑12 Math content expertise is required, along with comfort in K‑5 standards and a strong understanding of NYCPS K‑12 mathematics shifts and equitable acceleration strategies. You should have a proven track record of leading system readiness and pre‑implementation planning, including the analysis of achievement data and the production of actionable reports. Experience leading quarterly learning walks using structured, content‑specific tools is essential for monitoring shifts in practice over time. Furthermore, we value candidates who can demonstrate the ability to strengthen system‑enabling conditions, such as vision‑setting and role clarity, while maintaining practitioner‑level fluency in AI tools to integrate them into established workflows.
Location and Logistics
This position is based in New York City and requires local travel to schools and district meetings, as well as occasional national travel for organizational retreats and professional development. When not traveling, you will work from a home office located within the city limits of New York City. Candidates must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.

The base salary range for this position is $103,649 to $140,231; however, with the 15.9% geographic adjustment for New York City, the salary range is approximately $123,129 to $166,588 . For a candidate meeting the minimum 8‑year requirement, the standard starting salary in NYC is $144,859 , with adjustments up to $154,171 for those with additional relevant experience.

We also offer a 4% matching 401k plan and flexible spending accounts.
