We are seeking a driven and strategic Director of Business Development to drive commercial sales for our AI Products Business unit with a focus on our multi‑modal AI and technology portfolio solutions. Business Development Director will identify and pursue new business opportunities, develop and maintain a robust pipeline of prospects and potential customers, and own accounts from lead generation and qualification to proposal writing and deal closure. This role will work with the Paige team and cross‑functionally with a broad range of stakeholders and will require a strong understanding of the biopharma life cycle. Ideal candidates will be collaborative, agile team players eager to address and solve significant challenges within the digital pathology, oncology, and biopharma sectors. Key Responsibilities Drive new business: identify and secure new commercial opportunities with Life Sciences partners for Tempus' AI Products business unit. Client outreach, development and delivery of materials tailored to the client's needs, client pitches, proposal/SOW writing, and contract negotiations. Move beyond feature‑based selling to articulate a compelling "Why Tempus?" narrative. Strategic account planning: become an expert in the partner’s strategy, pipeline and portfolio to proactively determine opportunities where our AI and technology solutions could be leveraged. Relationship management: build and maintain relationships with key executives, strategy and innovation leads, clinical development heads, and program and assets teams. Rigorous deal qualification and sales execution: qualify opportunities, focus on high‑probability deals, engage the economic buyer early, build and test champions, and understand the contract process. Team‑based selling: collaborate closely with internal teams to present tailored solutions as a unified front to the customer. Pipeline management: build and manage a robust sales pipeline in SFDC, provide accurate forecasting and consistently meet or exceed revenue targets. Qualifications & Experience Required 5+ years of demonstrated success in a business development or enterprise sales role within Life Sciences, biopharma, or health‑tech industries. Background or strong knowledge of oncology, science, or medical fields. Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical R&D and commercialization lifecycle. Kind, collaborative, and agile teammate with a desire to tackle and solve meaningful problems within the digital pathology, oncology, and biopharma space. Proven track record of exceeding annual sales targets and experience closing complex, multi‑year partnerships, service or platform deals. Ability to establish credibility and build trusted relationships with clients. Outstanding communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage credibly with scientific and executive-level audiences. Proactive and adept problem solver with strong prioritization, execution, and critical thinking skills. Preferred Existing relationships within top 20 pharmaceutical companies. Experience working in Digital Pathology and/or modern AI fields (e.g., understanding of foundation models, AI development). Remote: $150,000–$200,000. The expected salary range above is applicable if the role is performed from New York and may vary for other locations (California, Colorado, Illinois). Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience.
