
Commercial Property and Casualty Underwriting Manager - Large Accounts

This is a hybrid position that requires in-office work in Pittston, PA, Stamford, CT, or Omaha, NE. Specific salary range will vary depending on specific candidate location.
Job Responsibilities
Supervises and assists an Underwriting staff in providing routine organizational underwriting and rating services to meet underwriting performance and service goals.
Oversee other supervisors or team leaders to ensure they are leading a team that meets organizational goals.
Provides working level supervision to underwriters performing routine underwriting tasks, with authority for personnel and performance management actions.
Recommends possible improvements to underwriting policies, processes, guidelines and practices.
Supervisory responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training; planning, assigning and directing work; evaluating performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Underwriting service responsibilities include, but are not limited to, referral review, post-bind reviews, rewrites, cancellations.
Ensure underwriting quality and profitability through thorough analysis of risk exposure consistent with company appetite.
Contribute to and foster a results-oriented culture that drives business growth and a delightful customer experience.
Flexibility to adapt in a constantly changing start-up environment, including changes to technology, underwriting guidelines and appetite, compliance and regulation considerations, business strategies and corporate standards.
Partially remote role – in person 2 days a week and remote 3 days a week.
Includes overnight travel to meet with key agency relationships and inter-office travel.
Includes appearing at depositions regarding underwriting related matters.
Focuses on Large Accounts exceeding $100,000 in premium size or $10 million in TIV.
Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Willingness to roll up sleeves and multi-task towards an elevated customer experience
Proven analytical skills with the ability to operate with ambiguity and elevate items as necessary
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with special attention to details
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers and customers
Self-starter capable of learning new skills and technologies in a rapidly changing environment
Capability to work independently and within a team/group environment
Excellent computer skills – Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree is required
Minimum 10 years of underwriting Property & Casualty Insurance experience
Minimum 7 years of management experience

In accordance with pay transparency laws and regulations, the following good faith compensation range estimate is being provided. The salary range for this position is $80,000-$150,000 per year. Final compensation will be based on candidate qualifications, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.
