Welling Young has partnered with a rapidly growing internal claims organization which manages multiple lines of business and internal programs. They are seeking a Director - Account Executive & Claims Development professional with strong technical claims knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a passion for developing people and strengthening client relationships. This leadership role is responsible for managing claims service relationships with the companies key accounts and ensuring adherence to specialized claim handling instructions, service standards, and reporting requirements. This role serves as the primary claims liaison to major clients and underwriting account executives while also leading onboarding and training programs for claims professionals.


Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary claims liaison for designated large and strategic accounts.
  • Build strong relationships with insureds, brokers, program administrators, and underwriting account executives.
  • Liaise with internal claim professionals to resolve claim handling issues and ensure consistent service delivery.
  • Respond to client inquiries and provide timely and accurate claim status updates and reporting.
  • Lead client-facing claim reviews, stewardship meetings, and performance discussions.
  • Support the onboarding of new customers by helping establish claim handling protocols, performance metrics, reporting processes, and service expectations.
  • Lead onboarding for new claims employees, ensuring structured training on company procedures, systems, and claim handling standards.
  • Conduct training sessions on technical claim handling topics including coverage analysis, investigation, evaluation, and litigation management.
  • Assist in developing and implementing claim handling guidelines, service standards, and operating procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with claims leadership to ensure operational excellence and strong customer satisfaction.


Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of commercial claims handling experience, preferably in commercial auto and general liability.
  • Experience working with large or complex accounts with specialized claim handling instructions.
  • Strong understanding of coverage analysis, investigation, evaluation, reserving, and litigation management.
  • Prior experience in training, mentoring, or developing claim professionals preferred.
  • CPCU, ARM, AIC, or other industry designations preferred.
