
Civil BIM Designer - Remote/Hybrid

We are looking to add a Civil Designer to our growing team in our Oak Ridge, TN office. The Civil CAD Designer is responsible for producing high‑quality civil engineering drawings for land development projects. This role supports engineers and project managers by preparing detailed construction documents related to grading, drainage, utilities, roadways, and stormwater systems, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Responsibilities include but aren't limited to: Production & Drafting
Prepare detailed civil site development drawings, including grading plans, utility layouts, roadway plans, erosion and sediment control plans, and stormwater management plans
Develop plan sheets from concept through final construction documents
Produce plan and profile drawings, cross sections, details, and quantity takeoffs
Follow established CAD standards, layering conventions, and file management protocols
Technical Support
Collaborate with engineers, designers, and other disciplines to generate accurate design models
Assist with interpreting engineering sketches, redlines, design notes, and specifications
Update drawings based on design revisions, permitting comments, and construction changes
Quality Control
Perform self‑checks and peer reviews to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance
Maintain consistency across drawing sets and ensure coordination with other disciplines
Identify and flag potential constructability or drafting issues for engineering review
Project Coordination
Support multiple projects simultaneously while meeting schedules and deadlines
Coordinate with survey data, utility information, and topographic files.
Assist with preparation of exhibits for permitting and client presentations
Mentorship & Collaboration
Provide guidance and support to other CAD technicians and designers as needed
Contribute to improvements in CAD processes, standards, and best practices
Required Qualifications
Associate’s degree or technical training in CAD, Drafting, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field
Minimum of 5–10 years of Civil CAD experience, with a strong focus on site development projects
Must be able to show proof of US citizenship (to comply with government customer requirements and/or applicable government regulations)
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
Familiarity with Navisworks
Solid understanding of site development principles, including grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utilities
Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and design intent
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Proficiency in BIM and 3D modeling processes
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with stormwater modeling support and plan preparation
Ability to create surfaces, alignments, corridors, and pipe networks in Civil 3D
Works well in multi-discipline team environments
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Primarily office‑based with occasional field visits
Occasional paid overtime to meet project deadlines
Compensation Details $23/HR - $50/HR
