Solutions Consultant
Herald, New York, NY, United States
About Herald
Herald is transforming how commercial insurance gets sold. We combine modern API infrastructure with industry-specific AI that can read emails, extract data, generate quotes, and guide brokers through submission workflows end-to-end. The result: faster placement, cleaner operations, and meaningful revenue growth. The market is huge, the need is obvious, and the product we’re building doesn’t exist yet. If you want to help shape the operating system for modern insurance, we’d love to work with you.
We’re a team of insurtech veterans with experience at At-Bay, Kin, and Insurify. We’ve raised our Series A funding from top-tier VCs (Lightspeed, Brewer Lane, Afore, Underscore) along with a panel of insurtech founders (At-Bay, Marble), insurance executives (CRC), and early employees of other successful API infrastructure companies (Plaid, Alloy).
The role We're looking for a
Solutions Consultant
who thinks like a consultant and operates like an owner.
This role is foundational. You'll define how Herald runs implementations — the discovery process, the workflow design, the adoption model. What you build here becomes the standard.
You'll sit at the intersection of strategic consulting, AI Workflow design, technical implementation, and product influence. That means you'll be as comfortable running a discovery session with a VP of Operations as you are reviewing an API spec with an engineering team.
If you've been doing this work in a more structured environment and want more ownership, faster feedback loops, and the ability to shape how it's done — this is that role.
What You'll Do
Lead strategic discovery and workflow design
Run structured discovery with customers — across technical, operational, and executive stakeholders — to understand their workflows, pain points, and goals
Synthesize findings into actionable recommendations, future-state blueprints, and implementation plans
Develop future-state blueprints for how AI components and automation can reshape customer workflows
Challenge assumptions, push back where needed, and guide customers toward the best long-term solution — not just the path of least resistance
Drive end-to-end implementations
Own the full implementation lifecycle: scoping, requirements definition, build coordination, testing, and go-live
Serve as the primary point of contact, bridging customer teams with Herald's product and engineering
Manage timelines, identify risks early, and keep momentum in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
Build the activation and adoption model
Go beyond go-live — dig into adoption metrics, uncover friction, and take creative ownership of driving real operational lift
Partner closely with customers to embed Herald into their day-to-day workflows, from Herald's AI-powered inbox agent to API-driven platform integrations
Identify opportunities to expand Herald's footprint across teams, use cases, and business units
Define how Herald delivers
Build the operational playbooks, frameworks, and delivery models that scale our customer work as we grow
Bring structure to ambiguity and establish new standards — not by waiting for direction, but by taking ownership and leading by example
Translate customer insights into product direction, working closely with engineering and product teams to shape what we build next
What You Bring
5+ years in technical consulting, solutions consulting, strategic customer success, product management, or a comparable high-ownership client-facing role
A track record of leading complex, cross-functional initiatives from discovery through delivery — with measurable outcomes
Comfort working at the intersection of business and technology: you've managed technical implementations or worked alongside engineering teams, and you can translate between business requirements and technical constraints
Strong project management instincts — you can hold a complex workstream together across multiple stakeholders without losing momentum
Excellent communication: written, verbal, and in the room. You can run a discovery session, write a clear recommendation, and present to a VP without breaking a sweat
A systems-level thinker who can zoom out to see the full workflow, break it into a clear and sequenced plan, and zoom in to drive each piece forward without losing momentum
High agency — you don't wait for direction; you define the problem, structure the approach, and drive toward the outcome
Technical fluency matters
— you should be able to hold your own in a conversation about system design, review an API spec, and diagnose integration issues across AI-powered and API-driven workflows.
A meaningful plus:
Experience in insurance, insurtech, or fintech. We move faster with candidates who can ramp on a new domain quickly and aren't intimidated by industry complexity.

Life at Herald We're just getting started and building our culture with purpose every day. One of the joys of joining a small company early is that you get to build that culture too. Come join us and help us make Herald an (even more) amazing place to work!
Actions we value There are many actions that we hope for and even demand from members of our team: communicating honestly, working hard, behaving with integrity. These are expectations. But we value these five actions above and beyond the level of "baseline expectation." We believe that if we excel at these, our business will thrive. We’re betting the company on it.
Build trust
— We always lead with empathy. We publicly own and learn from our mistakes just as we are confident and transparent in explaining our decisions. And we help get the work done because we recognize that no job is too small.
Create a shared reality
— We each articulate the facts, assumptions, questions, and fears we hold about our business. We listen to and learn from others. We create a shared set of information before making decisions.
Get better every day.
— We constantly seek ways to improve ourselves. We provide each other candid feedback coupled with support to elevate those around us. We refine how we work together to become more effective as a team.
Build a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community.
— We thrive when our team has a variety of lived experiences, values each other for their unique perspectives, and shares equitably in our mutual success. We invest in building an inclusive community for people who are oppressed because of their race, ethnicity, age, religion, gender expression, sexual orientation, physical ability, or socio-economic class.
(Remember that) we make the rules.
— We once created the ways we work and therefore can change them. We do not default to momentum. We challenge ourselves to deconstruct the status quo and create a better future.
