Williams Architects, a nationally recognized architecture and planning firm specializing in community-centered public facilities, is seeking a full-time Interior Designer with a strong foundation in interior design principals and a passion for creating functional, aesthetically pleasing spaces to support our growing national practice. Working as part of an integrated, cohesive project team, this position is ideal for an individual with 3+ years of professional working experience focused on commercial interiors. This position is based in our Itasca, IL office with a flexible Friday remote working arrangement.

Professional Responsibilities Develop design concepts based on client needs, preferences, and project requirements. Create floor plans, elevations, and 3D renderings using design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, etc.). Verbal and written contact with clients, consultants, contractors and other team members throughout the project lifecycle. Collaborate with architects, contractors, and clients to ensure design goals are met within budget and timeline. Supervise work of junior interior design staff. Integrate ADA compliance and universal design principles into all projects, ensuring accessibility. May conduct site assessments to evaluate design feasibility and compliance with safety regulations. Select and source furniture, materials, finishes and accessories that meet both aesthetic and functional requirements. May assist in preparing presentations, client proposals and specifications. Maintain project documentation, including design files, schedules, and budgets. Participate in client meetings and presentations. Perform other duties as assigned. Support multiple projects simultaneously, manage time, deadlines and shifting priorities consistently. Stay informed about current design trends, materials and technology.

Education and Experience Required Minimum 3 years of professional full-time interior design experience within an architectural or interior design firm. Experience with public sector projects and public bidding processes highly desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and knowledge of design software (AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop, Enscape, Lumion, etc.). Knowledge of commercial furniture, finishes, materials, color selections and specifications. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills. Strong organization, multi‑tasking, and time‑management skills. Ability to interact professionally with office leadership and clients. Ability to self‑manage tasks from start to finish with minimal oversight. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively. Understanding of ADA guidelines and universal design principles.

Physical Requirements May require occasional lifting of samples and project materials including but not limited to flooring, carpet, stone, brick, roofing samples and drawing rolls. Some work may be conducted in both office and on‑site environments, including client locations and construction sites; travel may be required. Ability to use computers and office equipment. Ability to commute.
