Senior Marketing Cloud Analyst – Responsibilities
Platform Ownership & Strategy
Serve as single source of truth for Marketing Cloud capabilities, constraints, and roadmap at KinderCare.
Develop and maintain a clear decision framework for when Marketing Cloud is appropriate versus Salesforce native automation (Flow Builder, email templates, Process Automation).
Own the Marketing Cloud architecture, including data model design, integration patterns with Sales Cloud/Service Cloud, and governance standards.
Proactively identify opportunities to expand Marketing Cloud utilization in alignment with business objectives (email optimization, SMS/MobileConnect expansion, journey sophistication).
Technical Execution
Design, build, test, and deploy email campaigns, automated journeys, and multi-channel communications using Journey Builder, Email Studio, Automation Studio, and Content Builder.
Develop and maintain data extensions, SQL queries, and segmentation logic to support targeted communications.
Implement personalization using AMPscript and dynamic content.
Manage Marketing Cloud Connect integration with Salesforce CRM, ensuring data synchronization integrity and troubleshooting sync issues.
Establish and maintain deliverability best practices (authentication, list hygiene, engagement scoring, suppression management).
Plan and execute SMS/MobileConnect implementation when business requirements mature.
Consultative Partnership
Serve as the “voice of the platform” when evaluating Product or Marketing requests—providing honest, evidence-based assessments of feasibility, level of effort, and architectural appropriateness.
Translate technical constraints into business language for non‑technical stakeholders.
Proactively educate Marketing and Product teams on platform capabilities and limitations, reducing the frequency of requests for impossible or inadvisable implementations.
Document decision rationale and maintain a knowledge base of “why we do it this way” to ensure institutional memory.
Governance & Quality
Establish and enforce naming conventions, folder structures, and documentation standards.
Develop testing protocols and QA processes to prevent send errors.
Monitor platform health metrics, deliverability KPIs, and journey performance.
Manage subscriber data quality, consent/compliance (CAN‑SPAM, TCPA for SMS), and preference center functionality.
Qualifications
5+ years hands‑on experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud (Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Content Builder).
Proficiency in AMPscript for email personalization.
Strong SQL skills for data extension queries and segmentation.
Experience with Marketing Cloud Connect and understanding of synchronized data sources, triggered sends, and CRM integration patterns.
Working knowledge of Salesforce Sales Cloud/Service Cloud, particularly Flow Builder, Process Automation, and native email capabilities.
Understanding of email deliverability fundamentals: authentication (SPF, DKIM, DMARC), sender reputation, list hygiene, and engagement metrics.
Demonstrated experience as a solo practitioner or primary platform owner—operated without a team.
Track record of stakeholder management in environments with competing priorities or challenging team dynamics.
Experience providing technical guidance to Product or Marketing teams, including the ability to decline or redirect requests that do not align with platform capabilities or best practices.
Background in B2C communications at scale, preferably in industries with high‑touch customer journeys (education, healthcare, retail, hospitality).
Salesforce Marketing Cloud Email Specialist and Salesforce Marketing Cloud Administrator certifications.
