California Environmental Voters is seeking a part‑time Social Media Intern in Los Angeles, CA, offering $20 per hour for 16‑18 hours per week. The role involves producing graphics and content for social media, engaging with followers, and supporting campaign efforts. Candidates should have experience with social media platforms and content creation tools. The position may require in‑office work depending on location and project needs.

16‑18 hours per week. Depending on the intern’s location and project needs, there may be requests to work in the office.

Responsibilities

Assist in producing graphics and copy for organic and paid media that supports our legislative advocacy and education work, engaging with followers across multiple platforms, and upholding brand standards and image.

Research and organize trending audio to produce content that blends political content with cultural moments, contributing to our virality strategy.

Maintain and track our content on our social media management platform to ensure all content is tagged for grant‑deliverable purposes.

Assist in the development of campaign briefs, launches, and communication with partnering social media content creators to ensure timely coordination.

Assist with intentional engagement with mutual followers, partner organizations, legislators, etc., on all social platforms to assist with organic growth.

Assist with direct engagement with members of Congress, elected officials, and active staff accounts to increase engagement.

Support the production of social media campaigns that promote voter engagement, issue advocacy, legislative accountability, and research through script writing, filming, production, etc.

Other duties as assigned.

Must Haves

You have experience with operating and maintaining social media platforms and each of their unique features (Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).

You have experience with digital content creation and editing software (Canva, CapCut, PicsArt, etc.).

You have successfully produced, edited, and developed graphics and photos (videos are a plus).

Willingness to learn new social media management software (Sprout, Hootsuite, etc.).

Thrives in a fast‑paced environment and can manage multiple projects and competing priorities. Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to deliver quality work while managing multiple projects.

Highly responsive and communicative.

Curious and enjoys analytics to help drive content creation forward on all social platforms.

Ability to work remotely and collaboratively with a team.

Committed to staying on top of social media trends and developments.
