
Trade Compliance, Senior Advisor

Overview The Trade Compliance, Senior Advisor serves as a key player in Zebra’s Global Trade Compliance (GTC) program, developing practical, analytical solutions to support and enhance Zebra’s import and export compliance operations across all global business units. Primary responsibilities include ensuring compliant operations at Zebra’s Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ), providing key analytics on global trade related issues impacting both compliance and operations, including but not limited to classification management of Export Control Classification Numbers (ECCN), Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Schedule B, metrics, duty minimization strategies, development and implementation of Oracle ERP data and supporting cross‑functional operations.
This position requires hybrid work (minimum 3 days/week in office) in either our Lincolnshire, IL or Kenosha, WI locations.
Responsibilities
Policies, Procedures and Processes (Creation and Implementation)
Applies experience and advanced research skills to updating and maintaining procedures, processes, and policies.
Identifies procedural gaps and areas of improvement by creating and maintaining documented, departmental procedures.
Systems and Trade Data Management
Analyzes and creates processes for maintaining trade compliance elements.
Superuser for Oracle Global Trade Management (GTM), including assisting with export declaration filings, restricted party screening, releasing holds and troubleshooting other GTM‑related issues.
Assists with SharePoint development and upkeep, troubleshooting user issues to support various GTC functions.
Supports the integration of systems data for automation, efficiency, and accuracy.
Regulatory Updates and Guidance to Various Internal and External Stakeholders
Research legal regulatory requirements and maintains current general knowledge of customs and export compliance concepts, best practices, and regulations.
Suggests certain sources of updates to the manager for review.
Facilitates departmental training on global trade‑related topics and operating procedures.
Clearance and Trade Controls
Serves as the lead contact for U.S. FTZ compliance operations, working closely with the customs broker and FTZ administrator, and facilitating risk‑based audits on zone admissions, weekly entries, in‑bond shipments, zone transfers and SOX compliance.
Manages various day‑to‑day compliance issues, as well as supports with other projects.
Supports classification (ECCN, HTS & Schedule B) and Country of Origin (COO) data management, free trade agreements and preferential trade programs, and assists with the implementation and process improvements related to Oracle ERP data.
Manages the customs broker relationship, reviews post‑entry import/export files, periodically audits classification database, assists with reporting of Customs Broker Key Performance Indicators, and assists with responses to government inquiries.
Assists with special projects as necessary, including CTPAT, reconciliation, U.S. duty drawback program, tariff mitigation efforts and other global trade related activities.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in business, global trade, logistics/supply chain or related field.
10+ years of trade compliance experience, including regulatory work experience with import/export regulations and direct experience with Foreign Trade Zone operations and regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of global trade regulatory requirements and supply chain principles, including auditing, CTPAT, tariff classification and import/export controls.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including SharePoint Design and Authoring, high proficiency with MS Excel.
Knowledgeable in Project Management and Data Analytics.
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, to convey complex regulatory concepts both with other regulatory experts and other business stakeholders.
Licensed Customs Broker, Certified Customs Specialist, Certified Export Specialist, Certified Zone Specialist or equivalency in another country is strongly preferred.

Salary USD 122,800.00 - USD 184,200.00 Yearly.
Salary offered will vary depending on your location, job‑related skills, knowledge, and experience. Additionally, all Zebra roles are eligible for cash incentive programs. For example, sales roles have additional opportunity to earn substantial variable compensation tied to quota achievement. In most other roles, the Zebra annual cash incentive program links Company and individual performance together. Some roles may also be eligible for long‑term incentive equity awards.
