JOB PURPOSE Reporting to the VP of Development, the Development Associate supports the pre-construction development of utility-scale solar and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. This role is focused on project coordination, risk and permitting tracking, and documentation management across an active development portfolio. The Associate works closely with internal teams — engineering, finance, and legal — as well as external consultants and agencies to advance projects from early-stage development through pre-construction. Performance will be measured by the accuracy, timeliness, and organization of development activities in support of the VP of Development's project pipeline goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain project schedules and trackers across multiple concurrent development-stage projects using the company's project management platform
Track development-stage studies (environmental, title, interconnection, and engineering) and route deliverables to appropriate internal reviewers
Assist in identifying and monitoring project risks in coordination with the VP of Development
Support site constraint analyses as part of preliminary due diligence review and assist with constraint mapping figures using company’s analysis platforms
Track and organize consultant proposals, route invoices and expense documentation to the finance team
Coordinate with consultants to conduct resource assessments, environmental studies, and permitting requirements
Support M&A diligence processes by organizing and managing virtual data rooms for internal and external parties
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
2–3 years of experience in renewable energy with direct solar PV and/or BESS development exposure
Understanding of the utility-scale development lifecycle from site origination through pre-construction
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable interfacing with internal teams and external stakeholders
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SharePoint or equivalent document management platform
Self-motivated; able to work independently in a remote environment and collaboratively within a team
Must reside within the DFW metroplex; ability to commute to Fairview, TX office for periodic in-person meetings
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
ArcGIS or GIS mapping platform experience, including constraints mapping (NWI, FEMA, Web Soil Survey, LiDAR)
Familiarity with ERCOT or SPP interconnection processes and project development in Texas
Experience coordinating real estate due diligence in an energy development context
Exposure to M&A transaction support, project diligence, or virtual data room management
Experience supporting internal stage-gate review processes at a renewable energy developer
Bachelor's degree in Real Estate, Business, Environmental Studies, Engineering, Geography, or a related field
