VP Senior Underwriting Manager - E&S Property

Overview
Zurich E&S is currently looking for a VP, Senior Underwriting Manager for our E&S Property team. This position will be responsible for developing, coaching, and managing a high‑performing regional team of Property underwriting staff and for managing regional performance, including new business production, policy count retention, rate/tiering execution, and portfolio management actions relative to plan. The role also includes managing regional wholesale broker relationships, managing underwriter referrals, and maintaining a small production portfolio to stay attuned with regional market changes and desk‑level challenges.
The VP, Senior Underwriting Manager will be expected to travel to support the needs of the team and to cultivate key broker relationships within the specified regions (25%). The position is a critical role in driving a diversified, dynamic and engaging team culture and requires strong technical acumen in underwriting property risks in the E&S segment, experience in overseeing and developing underwriting talent, the ability to manage complex processes, strong wholesale producer engagement and sales skills, and a demonstrated ability for profitable portfolio management.
This position will be based out of one of the following office locations: Atlanta, Chicago or New York. You will have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis and partner with your manager to set a flexible work schedule that supports you, our customers, and our brokers and agents.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and 10 or more years of experience in Underwriting, Market Facing, Broker, Carrier, or Risk Management within the Commercial Insurance industry
OR Bachelor’s Degree with 20 or more years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support within the Commercial Insurance industry
AND Experience in E&S Property
2 or more years of people management experience
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Strong underwriting acumen and expertise in the E&S Property space
Wholesale broker relationships
Strong planning and execution experience
Strong team building and organizational skills
CPCU
Excellent relationship building skills
Strong knowledge of forms language and coverage intent
Results oriented
Compensation and Benefits We offer a competitive pay range of $200,000.00 – $285,000.00, with global specialty incentive plan bonus eligibility set at 50%. Employees may also be eligible for bonuses and merit increases. We provide comprehensive benefits for employees and their families.
