Audit Manager – Digital Asset Assurance
Summary: Lead and deliver assurance engagements for clients operating in the digital asset and blockchain ecosystem (exchanges, custodians, miners, digital asset treasury companies, token issuers, and related service providers). Manage engagement teams, oversee execution and quality, and serve as a technical resource on digital-asset-related accounting and auditing topics.
Locations & Compensation
Location: 730 3rd Ave, 11th Floor, New York, NY, 10017, US (Hybrid)
Base Range: $135,000 – $165,000

Essential Functions and Primary duties
Lead multiple assurance engagements end-to-end, ensuring high-quality deliverables within defined deadlines.
Supervise, coach, and review the work of seniors and staff; provide timely feedback and mentorship.
Perform planning, risk assessment, and scoping tailored to digital asset operations (e.g., custody, wallet infrastructure, mining pools, staking, lending/borrowing).
Cross department coordination with Digital Asset & Blockchain Subject Matter Experts (SME) on digital asset audit procedures.
Execute and review audit procedures over:
Digital asset existence and rights (reconciliations, custodian confirmations, wallet controls, multi‑signature arrangements).
Fair value measurement and pricing source governance for digital assets.
Revenue recognition models (e.g., trading fees, mining, staking, lending, broker services).
IT general controls and application controls relevant to ledger, exchange, and wallet systems.
Provide quality assurance reviews on working papers, financial statements, and related communications.
Manage engagement economics (budgeting, staffing, scheduling fieldwork, monitoring progress).
Coordinate with clients and third parties (custodians, administrators, legal counsel) to obtain evidence; schedule and oversee fieldwork.
Resolve complex accounting and auditing matters; research and apply guidance (e.g., ASC 606/820/946, ASC 350/360/740, ASC 405/860; AU‑C/PCAOB standards)
Draft and review audit reports and management communications; present findings to client leadership and those charged with governance.
Contribute to practice development (thought leadership, methodology, tools) and business development.
Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive financial and client data, including keys and wallet‑related information.
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
Technical skills
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAS (and PCAOB standards, as applicable); familiarity with SOC 1/SOC 2 frameworks.
Solid understanding of relevant accounting standards (e.g., ASC 606, 820, 946, 740; and IFRS knowledge helpful).
Working knowledge of digital asset processes and risks: wallet architecture, custody models, blockchain analytics, valuation, exchange operations, staking/lending.
Data and technology proficiency: Excel/Power BI; familiarity with audit analytics.
Proven leadership, project management, and communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and drive accountability.
Sound judgment and professional skepticism; strong problem‑solving skills.
Client service mindset with the ability to build relationships and collaborate across teams and specialties.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; Master’s in Accounting a plus.
Active CPA (or equivalent) required; additional certifications (CISA, CFA, CAIA, CAMS, CISSP) are a plus.
5–8+ years of progressive public accounting/audit experience, including experience managing engagements and teams.
Demonstrated experience with financial services or technology clients; prior exposure to digital assets preferred.
Minimum Qualifications
6 years of experience in public accounting or related field
3 years supervisory experience
Must have active CPA or equivalent certification
Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
Proficient use of applicable technology
