POSITION SUMMARY The Powders & Cereals Sales Manager is responsible for team leadership of Regional Account Managers as well as the management of critical Key Accounts. The ideal candidate demonstrates effective leadership and team development skills, as well as a strategic approach to account management. This position reports to the Powders and Cereals Sales Director.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lead, coach, and evaluate Regional Account Managers across the US towards the development and execution of sales strategies to achieve the budgeted sales within each territory
Develop sales strategies and budgets for assigned accounts; regularly reviews and provides status reports on progress against forecast
Plans, schedules, and makes regular (F2F and virtual) calls with Regional Account Managers as well as assigned accounts; facilitates meetings for various company professionals to provide multi-level support and relationships to ensure effective service, customer relations, and administrative needs are met
Independently identifies team member and customer needs. Works closely with Balchem Marketing, Product Management, Product Development, Customer Service and Finance staff, etc., to deliver marketable products and solutions - coordinates the efforts of company and customer teams and establish strong working relationships
Communicates and maintains accurate sales forecasts and is both accountable and responsible for delivering budget and growth targets for team members as well as assigned accounts
Responds to customer and prospect inquiries for samples, technical/quality/regulatory data as well as support on the use and application of product
Obtains and reports marketing data for successful achievement of business objectives and strategies; monitors trends, competitive activity, product development, and market penetration; recommends course of action to prevent loss of existing business and growth of new business
Must comply with all policies and procedures of the corporation
Perform other duties as required
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree required; MBA and technical degree is preferred
Minimum 7-10 yrs sales experience in the food ingredient industry is required
Previous experience in people leadership is preferred
The candidate must demonstrate a passion for people development and sales team leadership
Self‑awareness, attention to detail as well as communication and presentation skills are required
Travel, up to 50%, with overnight stays can be expected
