Job Description The Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) agency is seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) Outreach Specialist to provide critical services to agricultural workers and employers in Iowa. The role is based in the Des Moines office.

Position Details

Location:

200 Army Post Rd., Des Moines, IA

Schedule:

Full-time, Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Telework:

Hybrid telework and alternate schedule available after 6 months of employment.

What You’ll Do

Communicate in English and Spanish to promote agency and partner services to farm workers and employers.

Provide individualized and career services, including identifying employment and training goals and summarizing farmworker rights.

Give career and employment guidance, refer customers to job search, training providers, and support resources.

Network and build relationships with other service providers serving migrant and seasonal farmworkers.

Assist agricultural employers in meeting their hiring needs.

Provide information about complaint and concern processes.

Travel within a designated area to conduct outreach activities.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university.

OR one year of full‑time public contact work with responsibility for data analysis, interviewing, testing, referral or placement, sales, credit investigation, or related outreach activities; up to four years of substitution if paired with education.

OR current continuous experience in the state executive branch equal to 12 months of full‑time Workforce Associate work.

Additional Qualification Requirements

Ability to travel as required; employees must arrange transportation to assigned work areas.

Selectives

Spanish Language (Customer Service): Ability to understand, speak, read, and write Spanish to serve Spanish‑speaking customers.

Candidates cannot have a current overpayment balance with Iowa Workforce Development without a payment plan in place. Certain positions are subject to a criminal background check.
