Norwegian Copywriter
Hurtigruten Group, Wind Lake, WI, United States
Norwegian Copywriter – Global Brand & Creative
For over 130 years, Hurtigruten has sailed the Norwegian coast – connecting communities, carrying locals and welcoming travellers from around the world.
We are rooted in Norway. Our stories come from its coastline, its landscapes and the people who live here. As we sharpen our communications in the Norwegian and Nordic markets, we are looking for a Norwegian copywriter to help us tell those stories with authenticity and flair.
This is a midweight copywriting role based in Oslo, working 50% with our global content team and 50% supporting the Nordic. Hurtigruten is a Norwegian company with a global audience. While our stories originate from Norway, much of our marketing is developed in English to reach international travellers. As Copywriter for our Norwegian market, you will help to bridge that balance, ensuring our global campaigns and website content feel natural, relevant and compelling for the Nordic market as well as writing original content in Norwegian. This is not just translation – it is localisation, adaptation and cultural fluency.
You will also act as our in-house Norwegian voice – sense-checking language, shaping stories and identifying opportunities to spotlight people, places and perspectives from across Norway.
Key Responsibilities
Localise and adapt English copy for the Norwegian market, ensuring tone, nuance and clarity
Write original Norwegian copy for campaigns, website and CRM/email communications, ensuring clear messaging from inspiration through to conversion
Support Nordic marketing campaigns by developing copy for paid and organic social media, display, native, print and other advertising formats
Review and translate English-language content from global teams (particularly web and CRM) to ensure natural Norwegian language and cultural relevance
Proofread and quality-check Norwegian-language materials across campaigns and marketing channels
Act as a cultural advisor on Norwegian language and context for English copywriters
Contribute to Norwegian naming, translations and language work across brand initiatives and projects
Source and develop new story ideas rooted in Norway
Collaborate closely with global and Nordic marketing teams, and maintain strong alignment with PR & Communications to ensure consistent messaging and language across channels
What We’re Looking For
Native Norwegian speaker with excellent written and spoken English
Proficiency in additional languages, particularly Scandinavian or German, is a plus
Proven experience writing in a marketing or brand context
A strong portfolio demonstrating storytelling ability
Ability to adapt our tone of voice while maintaining brand consistency
Confidence working across campaigns, digital channels and editorial formats
A proactive mindset and ability to generate fresh ideas
Nice to Have
Background in journalism, PR or editorial writing
An existing network of contacts in Norway
Interest in travel, culture or coastal life
Why Join Us? You will be part of an iconic Norwegian brand with global reach, working in a collaborative and creative environment. This is an opportunity to shape how Hurtigruten speaks to Norwegian audiences – and to help ensure our stories remain grounded in the places we sail as we reach more audiences around the world.
