Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Automotive Sales Manager to lead our vehicle sales department. This role focuses on managing a balanced inventory of new and used vehicles while maximizing gross profit on sales. You will set goals, direct and evaluate sales staff performance, and maintain high standards in vehicle presentation and customer service. Strong leadership and a professional appearance are essential for success in this position.
Key Responsibilities
Develop monthly and annual sales forecasts, gross profit goals, and departmental objectives.
Set individual targets for sales staff, including closing rates, prospecting efforts, and income goals.
Manage and schedule daily activities of the vehicle sales team.
Communicate timely inventory updates to sales personnel.
Maintain high standards for vehicle display, merchandising, and lot upkeep.
Enhance customer satisfaction and uphold dealership image.
Monitor payroll records and sales performance metrics.
Provide coaching and training to sales team members.
Coordinate with New Car Sales and Service Managers on trade-ins and vehicle delivery.
Ensure proper appraisal procedures for used vehicles, including obtaining vehicle history reports.
Conduct daily sales meetings to review performance and plan activities.
Develop and enforce prospecting and follow‑up programs for sales staff.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to vehicle sales, consumer protection, and information security.
Recommend optimal new vehicle inventory levels based on market and customer analysis.
Assist salespeople in closing deals and achieving objectives.
Complete all required training and adhere to company policies.
Physical Requirements
Regular exposure to outside weather conditions.
Frequent standing, talking, hearing, walking, and sitting.
Possible exposure to exhaust fumes or airborne particles.
Occasional lifting of up to 10 pounds.
Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and peripheral vision.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of three years of experience in automotive sales, including new and used vehicles, as well as finance and insurance knowledge.
At least one year of supervisory or management experience preferred.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Proficiency in computer applications such as word processing and spreadsheets.
Valid driver’s license and state sales license.
Comprehensive knowledge of various vehicle types.
