
MEP Superintendent

POSITION OVERVIEW
The MEP Construction Superintendent is responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all aspects of a project, ensuring it is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This role engages in job organization and field staff management, including scheduling, assigning, and monitoring workplace activities with a careful focus on safety, cost control, and quality. On job sites, the Superintendent may serve as the lead superintendent on smaller projects or as the lead superintendent for a specific scope on larger projects (e.g., Structure, MEP, Interiors).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Project schedule creation: initiate development and sequencing of the project schedule.
Budget management: review and understand project financial information in conjunction with Project Management.
Subcontractor management: collaborate on preparation and update of the Work Progress Schedule (WPS), develop look‑ahead schedules, conduct weekly subcontractor schedule meetings, and coordinate varying scopes of work.
Performance monitoring: ensure subcontractor adherence to drawings, plans, and scope; prepare detailed daily reports.
Administrative oversight: review submittals and shop drawings, coordinate and manage change orders, RFIs, and material submittals.
Safety and compliance oversight: develop and execute Zero Accidents (ZAP) and XMOP plans, identify non‑compliance, and monitor the site daily for safety and environmental standards.
Stakeholder engagement: build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in construction management or a related field (preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, 8+ years preferred.
Must have MEP experience.
OSHA 30‑Hour certification.
Valid Driver’s License.
Successful completion of a medical physical examination.
Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred.
Bachelor’s or better in Construction Engineering or a related field.
SKILLS
Project management: proficiency in developing and executing project schedules aligned with objectives.
Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing experience: design, installation, and maintenance of MEP systems, especially in commercial construction and data centers.
Subcontractor coordination: coordinate efforts and performance of subcontractors, consultants, and vendors.
Performance management: set expectations, provide feedback, and coach personnel.
Communication skills: excellent verbal and written communication with clients, vendors, and teams.
Administrative proficiency: review submittals, shop drawings, change orders, and RFIs.
Safety management: knowledge of safety regulations, compliance standards, and practices.
