Position Specifics A long‑standing partnership between the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and Penn State University, Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Central and Northern PA (BFTP/CNP) is the largest early‑stage investor and supporter of tech‑based companies across its 32‑county footprint. Headquartered in State College with satellite offices in Erie, Harrisburg, and Johnstown, BFTP/CNP provides high‑risk, early‑stage investments, business support services, TechCelerator startup boot camps, and BIG IDEA contests to help emerging entrepreneurs and small manufacturers launch new companies, grow existing businesses, and create high‑paying jobs. We are seeking a Marketing and Communications Specialist to advance the BFTP/CNP brand.
Responsibilities
Develop marketing, branding, and messaging strategies
Produce the Ben Franklin annual program overview
Manage media relations
Manage website and social media platforms
Participate in statewide marketing efforts and support statewide legislative advocacy
Manage public relations and event presentations
Create video, audio, and written content
Assist clients with marketing needs
Administer the email marketing system and implement best practices
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Outstanding writing and communication skills
Experience with Adobe Photoshop
Experience with an email marketing system, Salesforce, and WordPress websites
Strong project management skills and the ability to organize multiple projects and processes simultaneously
Ability to work effectively with multiple constituents
Basic knowledge of economic development and tech startups is a plus
Hands‑on experience with media buys, identifying local press (TV, radio, bloggers, newspapers) in the 32‑county footprint, and pitching stories/events to local media outlets
Work Arrangement

Minimum Education & Experience
Senior Professional: Bachelor’s Degree plus 6+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Advanced Professional: Bachelor’s Degree plus 3+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Background Checks
Employment requires successful completion of background checks and a motor-vehicle record check. A valid driver’s license is required.
Salary & Benefits
Salary range: $51,000.00 – $89,600.00.
Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage; a retirement plan; paid time off (holidays, vacation, and sick time); and a 75% tuition discount for employees and eligible family members.
