Stabbert Maritime is a family-owned and operated business, with locations in Seattle and Anacortes. Stabbert Maritime operates two full services shipyards and manages a worldwide fleet of vessels. Stabbert Maritime is looking for a Purchasing Agent to join their shipyard operations.
POSITION SUMMARY Leads sourcing, quoting, and purchasing activities that are essential to the operation of Stabbert Marine and Industrial, a full-service shipyard with locations in both Ballard and Anacortes, Washington. You will work closely with all levels of the shipyard and accounting and finance team to effectively and efficiently procure goods and services to ensure the team receives the necessary parts, materials, equipment, and services to meet project schedules, cost targets and our commitment to quality.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Obtain quotes and examine bids from suppliers/vendors to ensure best pricing and availability for supplies, services, and equipment; coordinate with production leads and management team to select final resources
Place purchase orders and act as the primary interface with suppliers, including follow- up on order status and expediting when necessary
Develop and maintain strong, strategic relationships with suppliers and service providers, building a robust vendor network to support deadline-driven procurement
Evaluate new suppliers based on price, quality, reliability, capability and speed
Ensure we have current documents needed for all suppliers/vendors/contractors, including reseller certificates, certificates of insurance, credit application, contracts etc.
Assist in estimating projects
Ensure accurate coding and resolution of discrepancies between invoices and purchase orders
Technical resource for the shipyard team in the adoption and use of the procurement management system. Perform similar or other duties as assigned

Attention to detail, electronic filing, and organization skills.
Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Able to work well with others in a team environment.
May be required to work more than the standard work week, including weekends.
Able to travel 5-10% of the time between our Seattle and Anacortes locations
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Purchasing and customer service experience in maritime, shipyard, or related manufacturing industries
Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
Proficient with Microsoft Office and procurement management/accounting systems
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Experience with shipyard metal procurement, including class-approved steel, aluminum, and non-ferrous alloys, preferred
Experience with Procure-to-Pay software, preferred
