Position Overview

The CRA Community Development MLO focuses on business development and mortgage loan activities in low- and moderate-income communities and borrowers in support of the Bank's community development initiatives. This position works closely with the Bank’s Community Development Officer and Liaison to achieve goals and objectives. Availability and flexibility to attend evening and weekend events and workshops is required.

This is a commissioned-based position with prescribed annual loan origination goals.

Key Responsibilities

Originate loans within the scope of annual goals established by Management. Conduct pre-qualification interviews with prospective borrowers, discuss loan programs and products, and initiate loan applications via internet, telephone, in person, fax or email. Utilize personalized websites to facilitate online inquiries, prequalification and applications.

Submit new loan applications with supporting documentation via Encompass for processing and credit decisioning. Provide follow-up and meet with borrowers to obtain required documents and problem-solve as needed. Promptly respond to all customer inquiries.

Conduct business development activities by developing relationships with government-sponsored housing agencies, community development agencies, realtors, and lending businesses in low- to moderate-income communities within the Bank assessment area.

Participate in monthly activities such as workshops, seminars, outreach events, branch mortgage day, lunch-and-learns, or other group activities serving these entities. Activities may be jointly conducted with the entity or within a Provident Bank branch that services low- to moderate-income housing interests.

Maintain a Sales Activity Calendar/Report for tracking and management review. Minimum of 2 focused business development calls/appointments and minimum of 2 activities required monthly.

Maintain and expand existing referral sources through regular sales calls and client meetings. Maintain strong contacts with assigned branches and visit branches regularly to provide mortgage financing information. Cross-sell Bank products and services.

Participate in bank-wide events, training, or sales meetings as required. Provide call reports or weekly business development plans as requested by the Sales Manager. Maintain knowledge of residential mortgage products, investor guidelines, basic compliance, and industry standards. Maintain understanding of Bank Affordable Housing products, including portfolio, FHA, USDA, and Housing Finance Agency programs.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma, plus specialized schooling and/or on-the-job education in a specific skill area (e.g., data processing, clerical/administrative).

5 years’ experience as a residential mortgage loan originator with established business contacts.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Motivation to meet and drive sales targets.

Ability to develop meaningful relationships with internal and external customers.

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Intermediate knowledge of business technology, including mortgage loan operating systems and Microsoft Office.

Bilingual preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field preferred.

10 years’ experience as a residential mortgage loan originator with established business contacts.

Bilingual.

Prior CRA experience, community involvement.

Licenses and/or Certificates

Active NMLS license (unique ID) required.

Travel Requirements

Require travel between customer sites, Provident Offices, or Branches.

Working Conditions Work is mainly performed in a general office setting within a retail-banking environment. Overtime may be required. Travel to other locations/branches is possible. Flexibility to adapt to new job locations and reassignments as directed.

Prolonged sitting/standing

Occasional bending or stooping (to retrieve coins from an individual vault)

Work is performed in a normal office environment with usually moderate noise. Travel to customers and property locations may be required.

Pay Details : $50,000 plus commission. This position is salary plus commission based. Base salary offers vary by candidate’s skills, experience, and location. Commissions are earned based on sales performance and achieving goals.
