Position Summary CRT Services is seeking a Measurement / Instrumentation Technician to perform field service, calibration, and troubleshooting of oil and gas measurement equipment.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, technically capable, and comfortable working independently in field environments. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to diagnose measurement issues, and a commitment to safety and professionalism.
Technicians work directly with producers and operators to inspect, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain custody transfer measurement equipment. Work is primarily performed in field locations and may require travel and extended work hours when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Calibrate and troubleshoot flow measurement systems and instrumentation
Maintain and service LACT units, meter skids, and sampling systems
Inspect and service Coriolis, turbine, and differential flow meters
Configure and troubleshoot flow computers including:
ABB Flow-X
Emerson ROC
Totalflow
Omni
Perform meter verification and proving support
Assist with gas and liquid sampling equipment
Ensure measurement systems comply with API and industry standards
Maintain accurate records of calibrations, inspections, and services performed
Communicate clearly with operators regarding work scope and system status
Complete field documentation and service reports accurately
Maintain company vehicles, tools, and equipment in proper working order
Follow all safety procedures and company policies
This position requires regular work in oilfield and industrial environments.
Technicians should expect:
Outdoor work in varying weather conditions
Extended periods of standing, crouching, or climbing
Driving to field locations and customer facilities
Occasional overtime or extended workdays when required
Strong understanding of oil & gas measurement systems
Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation, transmitters, and flow computers
Experience with custody transfer measurement equipment
Ability to read P&IDs, wiring diagrams, and instrument drawings
Strong attention to detail and documentation
Professional communication with operators and customers
Ability to work independently while representing CRT Services in the field
Commitment to safety and quality workmanship
Education & Experience Required
High school diploma or GED
3–5 years of field experience in oil & gas measurement, instrumentation, or automation
Preferred
Technical training in instrumentation, electronics, or automation
Experience with:
ABB Flow-X and Totalflow
Emerson ROC / FB series
Coriolis flow meters
LACT units and liquid measurement
Gas measurement and orifice metering
Certifications (Preferred)
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30
Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
Measurement or instrumentation vendor training
