Technical Sales Specialist

Primary Function The Technical Sales Specialist plays a critical role in bridging the gap between the sales team and technical teams, providing pre‑sales and post‑sales technical support. The role ensures customers receive accurate product information, technical guidance, and timely solutions to their inquiries, driving incremental growth by solving domestic and international customer pain points.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

Provide technical advice to the sales team and customers regarding product specifications, applications, and troubleshooting.

Answer incoming inquiries (phone, e‑mail, portal, CRM, etc.) which could include troubleshooting, installation questions, and technical issues.

Provide knowledgeable support and recommendations on products based on pump specifications, applications, and compatibility based on customer needs.

Issue and record Returned Goods Authorization (RGA) numbers for returned goods and maintain the RGA database, including inputting information on pumps, parts, and accessories.

Support product trials, testing, and implementation at customer sites.

Assist in warranty inspection and maintain warranty data for review with internal teams to provide corrective action for the customer.

Document failure analysis of products and communicate findings to customers and internal teams.

Evaluate and write estimates on products returned for repair or restock.

Offer pre‑ and post‑sales support, including product training (in‑person and virtual possible) and issue resolution.

Work closely with engineering, product development, quality, and operations teams to ensure accurate communication of product capabilities.

Stay informed about industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies to support strategic sales efforts.

Collaborate with the Sales team to understand customer requirements and provide technical solutions.

Participate in KPI reporting, cross‑training, 5S and other duties as assigned.

Education And/Or Experience Requirements

Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

2–5 years of experience in technical sales, customer support, or a related role.

Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite.

Other Special Requirements

Strong understanding of technical products and services (e.g., software, hardware, industrial equipment).

Ability to multitask and manage time effectively.

Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills.

Strong change management skills.

Empathy, patience, and a customer‑first mindset.

Strong technical aptitude and willingness to learn about pump products and applications.

Work Environment Requirements

Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex.

Regularly required to talk or hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and sit for extended periods of time.

Occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms.

Noise levels can be loud.

May be exposed to grease, dirt, water and other materials used within the products.

Occasional travel to customers/distributors expected (up to 20%).
