Description
River Commons is looking for an experienced Activities Director to join our team. This position is full time, benefit eligible. Scheduled hours are Monday through Friday 8 AM to 4:30 PM.
Job Summary Under the direction of the Community Administrator, the Activities Director develops and delivers daily therapeutic activities that support the collective interests and well‑being of the community.
Job Duties
Develops, implements and supervises the social recreation program of the facility for residents.
Evaluation of each resident according to his/her background, interests, abilities, physical stimulation and needs for the purpose of planning a meaningful program.
Maintains a current record of the type and frequency of activities provided and the names of the residents participating in each activity.
Provides the Administrator with a current schedule of planned activities and posts the schedule for the information of residents.
Coordinates the activity schedule with other resident services.
Requests and maintains equipment and supplies.
Develops monthly and weekly programs which includes: social activities, indoor recreational activities, educational activities and physical activities.
Monitors and participates in workshops, seminars and other continuing education programs available.
Communicates resident activities through the in‑house newsletter and flyers.
Coordinates with the Administrator and other department heads all social/recreational programs involved with residents of the facility.
Works closely with the Community Administrator and other department heads to plans all special events and holiday celebrations for residents.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
2 Years of Experience working in activities or event planning
2 Years of Experience working with Seniors
Valid CA Driver License
Clean Driving Record
Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, and use hands to handle/lift objects. The employee occasionally must be able to lift to fifty (50) pounds. Additionally, the employee, on occasion, must crouch, kneel, or climb stairs. Most work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. This position requires substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Must have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Must have the ability to walk short distances. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
