Position summary
Do you like working with the public? Do you enjoy a fast-paced work environment? Are you a self-motivated, multi-tasking, and detail-oriented team player? If this sounds like you, you might be the ideal candidate for the Administrative Specialist Senior position open in the Louisville Trial Office of the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy. In this role you will act as both a liaison between attorneys, clients, and other members of the community, and as an administrative assistant to the office’s supervisor. You will draft and edit a variety of documents and reports, so excellent written and verbal communication skills are preferred. Time management and the ability to handle multiple time-sensitive tasks for various attorneys are valued. The ideal candidate can prioritize and complete duties independently. Our clients are people who cannot afford an attorney and are charged with criminal offenses. Compassion for our clients and a commitment to our mission are critical characteristics. A pleasant, outgoing personality in-person and on the phone is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
Drafting service contracts. Preparing correspondence. Data entry. Answering phones. Greeting clients as needed. Preparing and distributing monthly reports.
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree. EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience. Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.):

Incumbents working in this job title primarily perform duties in an office setting.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
