The Freight Forwarder is responsible for reviewing and processing shipment transactions for major accounts, ensuring accurate, cost‑efficient and timely customer service. This role serves as the primary contact for account contracts and handles all activities related to import and export processes, including booking, billing, classification, and compliance with all domestic and international regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Promote positive relationships and deliver excellent, proactive customer service at all times, coordinating with other departments and third parties.
Receive, review, and process high‑volume import and export transactions, including booking, billing, and obtaining necessary consular or government releases.
Check warehouse shipments to ensure documentation matches actual goods.
Process bills of lading and provide clear instructions to the team for each shipment.
Ensure hazardous material shipments are handled in compliance with all applicable regulations and FMARC codes.
Create quotations, estimate freight costs, select carriers, and set profit margins.
Monitor Shipper Export Declaration rejections and manage client and government correspondence.
Communicate changes in shipping regulations to clients, colleagues, and third parties.
Identify special handling requirements, recommend process improvements, and implement solutions within assigned scope.
Investigate and resolve client concerns promptly by monitoring team performance against company and client standards.
Requirements
Three years’ experience in a client‑facing role.
Familiarity with domestic and international geography, including major countries and cities.
Exceptional attention to detail and ability to predict and mitigate issues proactively.
Ability to remain productive under pressure.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Freight forwarding experience.
Prior use of CargoWise One.
Language Skills
English – reading, writing, and speaking proficiency.
Computer Literacy
Proficient use of MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Physical & Mental Requirements Frequent use of hands and arms to manipulate objects, tools, or controls; stooping, kneeling, or crouching; use of computer and telephone equipment; fine and distance vision required.
