Smiths Interconnect, Inc. is currently seeking new talent for a PCB Designer position. This position will primarily work with Designers, Manufacturing Engineers, Electrical Engineers, and Mechanical Engineers to create printed circuit board (PCB) layouts along with PCB fabrication and assembly documentation. After initial training, the Electrical Designer will:
Use Schematic creation and PCB layout design software (DxDesigner, PADS)
Create PCB drawings and Gerber files for PCB fabrication (PADS, AutoCAD)
Use and modify CAD models and drawings (PADS, AutoCAD)
Create and check component footprints according to IPC and company standards
Interface with other Engineers about component footprints and circuit layouts
Utilize basic rules of design
After initial training, your duties will include:
The design and layout of printed circuit boards for Radio Frequency (RF), mixed signal, and hi‑speed circuits based on industry and company standards and procedures
Generation, modification and release of accurately detailed documents, drawings, 3D models and files for schematics, PCB fabrication, bill of materials, and assembly drawings using CAD tools along with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems
Support Engineers during prototyping, design verification, and updates to designs
Collaboration with Electrical, Mechanical, and Manufacturing Engineers, and Designers
Support of technical proposal generation, peer/customer design reviews, and supplier enquiries
Other duties as required
Requirements Experience:
Must have creative & problem‑solving skills demonstrated through projects, experience, or training.
Shall have a minimum of 2 years of experience with PCB design, CAD, electronics assembly or test, or applicable experience in military or aerospace industry.
Shall have experience with IPC‑2221, IPC‑7351 and IPC‑A‑610 standards. Experience with ASME Y 14.100, and ASME Y 14.5, (GD&T) is a plus.
Education:
Associate degree in Arts/Science (A.A./A.S.), technical/trade school, or military training. Equivalent experience will be considered.
Security:
