Survey Crew Chief

As a Survey Crew Chief, you will lead field survey crews in performing boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, DOT, and construction staking surveys. You will assist crew members with field computations and data collection using GPS, robotic total stations, and other survey equipment.

Responsibilities

Coordinate daily field activities, ensuring clear communication with supervisors and project teams.

Perform construction stakeout and interpret land development plans to support field layout.

Upload, download, and organize field data, including notes, photos, and documentation.

Maintain accuracy, quality control, and thorough field documentation on all projects.

Ensure proper maintenance and organization of survey equipment, tools, and the survey truck.

Mentor and support junior crew members in field procedures and best practices.

Interact professionally with clients, contractors, and on-site personnel.

Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining safety and productivity.

Ensure compliance with all GBA safety standards and field procedures.

Essential Skills

Proficiency with robotic total stations and GPS equipment.

Knowledge of survey computations and basic math.

Familiarity with DOT, boundary, topographic, and ALTA/NSPS survey methodologies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.

Minimum 3 years of combined field and office surveying experience.

Strong communication skills and a professional client-facing demeanor.

Ability to work outdoors for extended periods and perform physical field duties.

Team-oriented mindset with the ability to follow established procedures.

Ability to travel up to 20% regionally.

Work Environment The work environment involves project job sites all local to KC. Travel will be local, providing an excellent opportunity for Surveyors looking to advance their careers.

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lenexa, KS.

Pay & Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
