The Goodhue County Education District (GCED) is seeking a collaborative, student-centered leader to serve as an Assistant Director of Special Education. This role offers the opportunity to impact student success across an entire school district.
GCED serves approximately 7,000 students across Goodhue County with over 150 staff. The district provides a wide range of services, including Setting IV and Transition (18–21) programs, Multilingual Learners/Title III, Alternative Education, Perkins/CTE, and 5RiversOnline, along with specialized services such as Early Childhood Special Education and Low‑Incidence Disability programming.
Position Summary Provide leadership and oversight of special education services within an assigned member district, ensuring high‑quality programming and positive student outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and supervise special education programs
Ensure compliance with state and federal requirements
Manage and allocate resources effectively
Build strong relationships with staff, families, and partners
Support clear communication and collaborative problem‑solving
Work as part of multiple collaborative teams
Qualifications
Valid Minnesota licensure in Special Education or related area
Master’s degree in Special Education or related field
Minnesota Director of Special Education license
