The Facility Maintenance Technician IV plays a key role in supporting the upkeep, functionality, and overall appearance of campus facilities. This position is responsible for performing a wide range of skilled maintenance tasks, including painting, drywall repair and installation, basic carpentry, and the installation or replacement of fixtures. The technician also assists with moving furniture, equipment, and materials throughout the facility to support departmental needs, events, and operational changes. In this advanced-level role, the Technician IV participates in miscellaneous facility improvement projects, ensuring that all work is completed efficiently, safely, and in accordance with institutional standards. The position requires the ability to troubleshoot maintenance issues, recommend solutions, and collaborate with team members to complete both routine and specialized tasks. The technician utilizes the institution’s work order management system to document activities, track progress, and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks. Accurate record-keeping supports effective communication, planning, and compliance with maintenance protocols. Overall, the Facility Maintenance Technician IV contributes to creating a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for students, employees, and visitors by providing high-quality maintenance services and supporting the ongoing operational needs of the facility. This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus. A high school diploma or equivalent and formal training or trade experience that is directly related to the area of employment. Preferred qualifications include experience performing complex maintenance and repair tasks in areas such as carpentry, masonry, electricity, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and boiler operation. Experience assisting with miscellaneous facility projects, including painting, drywall, carpentry, and installation of fixtures within facilities, is also preferred. Familiarity with utilizing a work order system to log activities is a plus.
